Ok, so I was planning on making a SFF computer, but things just werent working out for me. Here is the new computer I would like to build, please let me know what I could improve/modify.

Case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 5

Mobo: MSI K9N4 SLI-F Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 500
I picked that motherboard because it had 4 PATA, and 4 SATA 3.0Gb/s. I've never used an MSI board before, are they any good?

Video Card: EVGA GeForce 7900GS 256Mb

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (65W) Windsor 2.0Ghz AM2

RAM: CORSAIR ValueSelect 1Gb 240-Pin DDR2 667

DVD/CD: Lite-On 18x DVD+-R

PSU: RAIDMAX Aurora 580w

I'll be using the 17'' CRT ProView that I've been using, same goes for keyboard and mouse.

I did not forget the hard drive, I'm going to put an 80Gb IDE Maxtor that I found around my house that is not being used.
(On a side note: My computer just died a couple weekends ago. Is it possible to retrieve my data that I had on this hard drive? If so I will be using this hard drive too. Its a 120Gb.)

Well, let me know what you think :) Thanks!

I'm hoping that it's the mobo because I was planning on using the PSU out of the one that died. But maybe my old mobo died because of the PSU.. hmm. I probably shouldn't chance it.

I updated the list to show the PSU I'll probably use.

Unles it was your hdd that failed (which it doesn't sound like that is the case from reading your thread), you will be able to retrieve any data from the drive.

What I would recommend, as this worked for me in a very similar case recently, is when you get your new system built, install your OS on your 80GB hdd. Once you have everything up and running and updated, plug the old hdd into your IDE ribbon and your pc will recognize it as an additional drive. You will then be able to access the drive through windows explorer and copy any files you want over to your 80GB hdd. You will be able to access all the files you had on this drive, even if they were in seperate partitions. Once you have everything copied, you can go ahead and format the 120GB to get rid of all the old OS and program files and use it for storage.

Hey, thanks for the link. I think I'll keep the Rosewill one I found though, I kind of like to keep everything on the same shopping cart.

Yeah, they suck like Raidmax.

FSP 450W
Xclio 500W

These are gonna be best in your price range and they're more efficient.

Rosewill and Xclio Goodpower are both Channel Well builds (with Fuhyyju caps and all), I believe. The only Xclio I'd recommend at your price point is the 460W Stablepower -- their Stablepower series is made by Enhance, a much better manufacturer.

Mind you, even 400W may be overkill on that system.

That case that you linked to was nice, but not what I was looking for really. I was looking into some cases that included a PSU like this Rosewill one:

I know from above that Rosewill PSUs aren't that good, but how about their cases?

I have never built a computer with SATA 3.0gb.. Do optical drives such as a DVD burner plug into the SATA hard drive slot on the mobo?
