I used to hate the newer camaros, only liked the old old models.. but recently they've been growing on me and I really like the late eighties early nineties models, and now I'm starting to like the new ones too! not sure why. this one looks sweet IMO. My requirements for a cam/fbird - black, t-top, v8.. :D

Camaros are great, 90% of a Corvette's performance at <1/2 the cost.

I intend to own a 2000+ Z28 or SS within the next couple years.

Cool. The new vettes handle better though, do they not? As far as power is concerned however, you could just drop the same, or more powerful engine in the cam and bam, you're faster.. :p

BTW, Viper, as I recall you're a relatively young dude also - so aren't you worried about being reemed on insurance? Why not get a base model cam and drop an LS1 engine in there? As far as the insurance company is concerned it's a base model cam so it should be cheaper to insure right? that and it's kind of a sleeper in a way - if people recoginze it as a base model they'll expect it to be slower :p

He'd end up spending as much on the V6 car and the motor and other parts as he would have spent jsut buying a car w/ an LS1 in it. Then, he'd have to do all the extra work, and if he ever wrecked it, the insurance company would only pay for a V6 car.

Insurance is what put a lightly used Firebird out of my price range. I pay $2k/year to insure my Dakota.

I'll be 21 in a month, & my record will be completely clean come January.

That will qualify me for preferred rates at many insurance companies, so it shouldn't be TOO bad.

This is, of course, all dependant on my vision being stable enough for me to drive.

While that may be true, if something causes that car to be totalled or damaged, the company is only going to pay you based on the premiums you paid. They're not stupid you know. How are you going to explain the situation if the car were to get stolen and not recovered? You want to be paid on a base camaro plus the $10,000+++ you put into it? Not gonna happen.

BTW, that could be considered insurance fraud in some states if you kept pushing the matter. Is having a fast car with cheap(er) insurance worth a felony conviction?

Heh, that's not a Camaro!!! That thing's older!
Vettes handle much better than FBodys do stock. But on the drag strip, Camaros will do quite well and are easy to mod. The C5 ownZ the Z28 for the most part. Don't even mention the ZO6.

Indeed it was. I had an 81' which was alright and I do miss it and the power.
