I guess it could be either creepy or impressive, depending on your interest and motives.
He quotes the poetry.

Every now and then he quotes a poet, appropriate for the subject of conversation I might add.
What do you think of a person who does this?

That would be ok, but I'd have to be there to pass judgment.

my thoughts exactly.

i like my body when it is with your
body. It is so quite a new thing.
Muscles better and nerves more.
i like your body. i like what it does,
i like its hows. i like to feel the spine
of your body and its bones, and the trembling
-firm-smooth ness and which i will
again and again and again
kiss, i like kissing this and that of you,
i like,, slowly stroking the, shocking fuzz
of your electric fur, and what-is-it comes
over parting flesh . . . . And eyes big Love-crumbs,

and possibly i like the thrill

of under me you quite so new

He quotes the poetry.

I think I have to go with impressive, although I'm kind of a fan of writing in general so I'm biased.

as long as it's not overdone and tasteful, I'd say "witty."

depends on the type of poetry quoted, of course.

Of course, it seems pointless to ask this question to the ave ATer. Most haven't heard of books that aren't SciFi, Harry Potter, or Fantasy...

it depends, does he do it all the time? it would get old really quickly and hes just showing off. but if there was an appropriate time for an appropriate quote, then why not? its like people who quote movies all the freakin time when not apprporiate

The crowd I hang around with is lucky of they can quote Yogi Berra. Anyone quoting poetry would be the poster boy for an ass beating telethon.

Ugh, I had a friend who did that. You are reluctant to interrupt b/c he may start over from the beginning but you are afraid to say nothing b/c it could go on forever. Then afterwards the conversation is paused for a second or two while everyone pretends to think about the deepness of what was said while they are really thinking about other things like "I got to wash my car tomorrow I think"

What do you think of a person who does this?

I've done that a few times in the past and each time I realized that, even though I was just thinking outloud because the line had come to mind, given the looks I got, I sounded like I was trying to impress people and/or borrow sentiment from the author's work to make my statement more profound.

Quoth the raven, nevermore. So I stopped doing that.
