Your link sucks and that is not solid pine.
product description & measurements
Main parts: Solid pine, Stain, Clear acrylic lacquer
Problem is - it's really hard to find "middle ground" furniture stores. They either sell POS made in china stuff, or high-end stuff from Thomasville, Baker, stanley, etc. Who wants to pay $9K for a dining room table and chairs?Originally posted by: BoomerD
linkie no workie for me...
However, pine furniture is OK, but it's softer than most other woods and will suffer more from abuse and occasional bumps.
I don't know why so many people here like Ikea...cheap Made in China crap IMO. Why not try a place that sells REAL furniture?
Depends what kind of pine. Most pines are soft, but there are a few that rival maple. Southern yellow pine has a specific gravity on par with black cherry (about 0.50).Originally posted by: Chaotic42
Like everyone says, pine is soft, and I think it looks better with a dark stain that really shows the wood off: Pic
