That's your choice to project your feelings on the subject to others. If you feel cheap if you don't tip, that doesn't automatically make it cheap not to tip.

Lies.

Nik, you're a boring, insignificant, misanthropic, little tick. You have failed to provide a single reasonable excuse for not tipping.

You're simply a cheap individual.

Frankly, I find your attitude disgusting.

This, boys and girls, is what's called denial. As I said, you can be as sad and selfish as you want, but justifying it in the name of some kind of philosophical ethos is just laughable.

If the topic of this thread is about whether or not to tip in general.. then i think nik is a big cheapo..

if the topic is about Manditory tips, then I agree 100% . If I go to a rest. that DEMANDS a gratuity added to the bill... i will either tell the server flat out that if they take that, they will not get a penny over.. or i will just tell the manager, NO GO!
:)

How does one defend against denial? This argument is a cop-out. Again, I've said too many times that I tip to say it again.

Look, people; if you eat at a restaurant and you get acceptable levels of service, you should tip your wait staff. If you get great service, you should tip big. If you get lousy service, you should withhold any tip. It isn't rocket science.

Should the restaurant add a gratuity to your bill, pay it, and if you're that upset, don't come back. If the service was that bad, then ask to speak to the manager.

I tip well where ever I go, and especially at places I frequent. I always get better service. I tip a minimum of 20% in restaurants, a couple of bucks per drink in bars, twenty bucks for valet and/or room service, and 40% for my hair stylist.

In countries where tipping is not common practice I instead "bribe" the barstaff. I always sort the bartender with a generous amount to look after me and my party. I hate waiting for drinks.

That's great. I got no problem with that and I respect your ability to choose. However, I will not honor being forced to tip. That's all I'm saying. That's what this whole entire fvcking argument has been about - forced tipping versus voluntary.

I do not ever tip anyone who demands it or expects it. Bitch, you get a goddamn paycheck. Need more money? GET A DIFFERENT JOB.

All waiters expect to get tipped...
So its probably safe to assume that you dont eat out much....

Really?

Consider this scenario. You dine out at a fairly decent retuaraunt. Not a chain. The waiter smiles, is friendly. You get a hello. He doesnt mess up with the order. You notice the resturaunt is busy. You get a little hungry waiting for entrees. The waiter is exceptional when it comes to refilling your beverage with the exception of your glass remaining empty once for a few minutes. The bill comes to $70. How much would you tip?

Nik's reply:

Nothing. That's what I expect as standard service. That's THEIR JOB. If they want to go above and beyond their job, then I will consider tipping. Tell me, where in that scenario, did anyone go above and beyond their job requirements?

Nobody is forcing you to tip in this particular scenario. You are simply being a cheap jerkoff.

Not to mention using foul and abusive language and insulting the very difficult job that good servers have. It's hard work, they have to deal with all sorts of obnoxious people, and they deserve every penny they earn.

I'm curious, Nik; under what circumstances would you tip? Provide an example.

Sigh. I'm really tired of this. Read the thread. I already have. Several times.

Hell it's even been quoted and posted in other threads where douche bags tried pulling the "nik doesn't tip" lie in other threads.
