What are all the people on this thread talking about, Boehner may have a presence, but so does a foghorn and so does a broken record.
Boehner was also the de facto GOP house majority leader during the 1990's until he was caught in the act of openly distributing tobacco lobby money on the house floor. He was replaced by the real GOP reformer, Tom Delay. And one of Delay's tactics was thereafter to totally marginalize Boenher and those that did not slavishly follow the Delay doctrine in the GOP dominated house. To keep some of the heat off themselves, they did not have the full title of GOP house majority leader, but as long as they could dominate a nothing like Dennis Hastert, it did not matter.
Of course when Delay was forced to resign, its paved the way for the second most corrupt GOP member in Boehner to rise right back up to a leadership position.
Sure, ole Boehner can rail against pork with the best of them, but now that he is in a minority position, how swiftly we forget Boehner was the pork king of capital hill three years ago.
