What do you think of mercury amalgam filings?

The traditional medical/dental community says that they're perfectly safe. The alternative health crowd thinks they are dangerous and should be removed.

I haven't done my own research, but my gut tells me having filings leaking mercury into your system can't be a good thing. Thankfully, I only have one mercury amalgam filing left.

Thoughts?

Don't get any new ones, don't worry about the old ones. They've been around for decades, and you don't see people dying of Mercury poisoning.

Mercury is cumulative, and takes a long time to process out of your body.

The amount in a filling is harmless, but when combined with other sources, can add up. (Merthiolate, etc) Although removal will probably dump more mercury in your system than if you left it in.

IMHO, your body has enough toxic crap to deal with, and technology has improved enough that there is no use for mercury amalgam.

No, but a lot of people have neurological problems.

Not from fillings.

Chlorine is a deadly poison. Salt with those fries?
