What do you think of eternal life?

Heeelp me... I'm old. Is there anything I can do about it? The thing is, I'm old and I think I'm old enough and I'm not sure I can bear getting any older. I feel like every day is killing me. Yeah, I know, it's not the end yet, but I don't mean that. I don't want to be old and to live up to like 80 years and live most of my life in a state of being old and only getting older.

Yes, it may be dumb to say things like that... I know. However, I'm so frustrated that life is so short. Why are we people such short lived? I know I should just let it go and enjoy the time I got but it looks to me it's running out so quickly, wish I could stop it. I'm scared.

Probably I'm the only crazy person thinking like that. Do you have a philosophy of age that makes you feel good or how do you combat such bad thoughts if you ever get them?

A lot of people think your way, and not to turn it into a religious thread, but if one has no belief in God or the afterlife, their own mortality is more likely to be a constant nagging fear, because when they die, for them that's it, so they would prefer a longer life. But, if there is nothing after you die, it doesn't matter if you life to 80 or 800. The end will come, and afterwards nothingness.

I guess I'd be happy to live to 80 and that's it, but stay young. I'd hate to get old and look old. That's scary.

It will happen, so don't fight it. Most people as they age prioritize things differently. A well developed 45 year old won't let a few wrinkles spoil their day, because there is more to life than that. And if it does spoil their day, too bad for their sorry ass.

Take care of your body & you won't mind being 80. I know some 80 year olds that are pretty damn cool & get around very well.

Watch what you eat, exercise regularly, etc...

Also, the older you get, the less a big deal it'll be, trust me:D I'm in my 40's but honestly, I still feel like I did when I hit puberty.

Ok, that's good to hear. Hope it's possible indeed to feel good even when you're getting older. Time will show, I guess :(

He's right, except in a few cases where the person is a goof ball. I remember around when I turned 20 for a day or so I thought maybe I'd live life paralyzed with the fear of getting old, because it finally clicked with me that i was getting older and would eventually die (kids rarely think about it in depth). Now at 26 I can see already some signs of age, but I'll get over it. Hopefully I'll live a long time and accomplish what I want prior to death. That's all anybody can do.

Yeah, I know that ;) But what's strange, you know that, but when that happens to you, it's so hard to bear this. Heck, I thought I would live forever when I was a kid. And now it appears I'm almost a quarter of a century old, and when I see younger folks it seems like I was dug out of a grave, literally.

Let's hope this arrangement is for the better. It's better to believe in this if you got no choice anyway.

One can age gracefully. Most people don't. They eat like sh*t and don't excercise. How many 40 year old women do you find attractive? Exactly. That's because most of them don't give a crap, but some of them are still actually quite hot. Taking care of oneself really, REALLY helps the aging process.

Not even 25 years old yet and you feel old? You're barely just out of puberty.

What he said. I'll bet you don't even have aches and pains when you wake up in the morning yet.

Eternal Life is now on my trail
Got my red glitter coffin, man, just need one last nail
While all these ugly gentlemen play out their foolish games
There's a flaming red horizon that screams our names

And as your fantasies are broken in two
Did you really think this bloody road would
Pave the way for you?
You better turn around
and blow your kiss hello to life eternal, angel

Racist everyman, what have you done?
Man, you've made a killer of your unborn son...
Crown my fear your king at the point of a gun
All I want to do is love everyone...

And as your fantasies are broken in two
Did you really think this bloody road would
Pave the way for you?
You better turn around
and blow your kiss hello to life eternal....

There's no time for hatred, only questions
What is love, where is happiness, what is Life,
where is peace?
When will I find the strength to bring me release?

And tell me where is the love in what your prophet has said?
Man, It sounds to me just like a prison for the walking dead
And I've get a message for you and your twisted hell
You better turn around and blow your kiss goodbye
to life eternal angel...

How old are you?

Considering humans have one of the longest life spans of all earth's inhabitants, I think you should stfu. :)

Should change your thread title. It sounds like you want eternal youth, not eternal life. Eternal life, without remaining young, would likely drive you nuts.

Personally, I wouldn't want eternal life. The boredom would eventually drive me insane.
