What do you think of EAX?

I've always thought EAX was overrated. Just give me simple multi-channel sound. And I don't even really use that in games, I only have my receivers and speakers mainly for music (two channel) and video (multichannel movies and TV shows).

I run 2.1/headphones and I still find EAX makes a big difference in games.

more and more PC games lately are Console ports, the trend seems to be growing I see almost no ports that have EAX support, I wouldn't be surprised if by 2009 next to all games will be EAX-less ports.

More and more games are also relying on OpenAL due to Vista and Creative is generally superior in that department.
