I dont use sick days unless i'm sick. usually i take too few days off, i usually get hit with flu/cold type stuff once or twice a year. I always seem to think i can get away with a single day when i should be off two or three. makes things worse and i gut it out until a weekend comes along and and do nothing but sleep. That said, I do take however much time i need for doctor/dentist appointments. been here two years, up to 200 hrs of sick leave. Doesnt seem to be a limit to save either, some coworkers i've seen have over 1000 hours. Way i figure, if i ever need surgery or something of that nature, i'm more than covered for whatever time period i need off.

i know that i accrue about 10 days of vacation time in a year, which i havent used yet, though i just started working at this company a little over 5 months ago, i believe we also accure 5-10 sick days which includes personal days. ive had 3 days off already for sick days, but to be honest i think it's justified as i am usually the only 1 out of 40 in our division that constantly is having to come into work 3-5 additional hours on the weekends and working past 10pm on regular weekdays. i average about 60 hours of work every 2 weeks, meanwhile the rest of my co workers, come and go as they please, none of them are ever pressured to have to work on any deadlines as i am.

sometimes you just get burnout, tired and stressed out and you just have to take a break from being at work. ive gone to work when ive had a fever, chills and aches, i regret that, so now even if i just have a headache and didnt sleep well, i am not coming in, today is my 3rd sick day i am taking in 5 months. the fact most of my co workers also get to travel on business and business is such a loose term to use, because they will go someplace to set up an event for 2 hours and spend the rest of the time partying or having fun on the company dime and dollar really seems like they have it easy. if they want to leave the office at 3 or 4pm, they always can, but my job requires me to be there UNTIL the WORK IS DONE, especially since my boss constantly pressures me as well. he rarely notices if anyone else is out of the office until the day is almost over and it's not a big deal, if im late by 10 minutes he starts callling me nonstop and harassing me.

today ive already received 5 phone calls from him this morning. eh leave me alone.

You know what rules.

When someone on the forums makes a second (or third, or fourth etc) screename in order to troll the forums, and they forget the login and never come back.

Eh I don't mind cause I am one of those people. Sometimes you hate your job so much that you get depressed thinking about going back to work. That and I don't care about my job anymore that's why I do it. Plus I get my work done when I'm there and never have any complaints so my boss and coworkers are ok with it. I always pick up my slack the next day I'm back anyways.

Any thoughts?
This is a natural response to companies that ask you to stay late, work OT, and generally demand higher levels of productivity with fewer people. IF the company feels it is infringing on the companies ability to produce, a policy of corroboration will be implemented. Granted, one would need health insurance or some other way of offsetting such measures, financially, but overall, i say more power to them, ESPECIALLy if UNUSED sick time is not rolled over into comp time.
21'st century business models suck, in general.

oops meant to say i work about 60 hours a week. that includes usually having to come in a couple of hours to get some solid time to just focus on my tasks and not the work for others.

even while i was out my boss cc:D an email to the entire company receptionist about the light being out in his office and if they could have maintenance come in and fix it. i think his reason for cc:ing on such ridiculous things i have no control of is so i somehow now become responsible for making it happen or to follow up on it, do i really care if his light isnt working when im at *home sick*. puhleeze.

nobody else does the work that i do, nor can they, so life will go on if i missed ONE DAY, when im working as much/hard as i am.

be happy, do your job if you like it, and let others do what they want.
at least you have job security because you have more work to do,

i would rather have 3 people out and me be busy, then have those same three sitting around doing nothing in front of me while i'm busy.

but then again, i'm getting payback. I've been out 5 weeks now on a paid loa.
