I don't like it at all...American education is already pretty weak (at the standard level) as it is. We don't need people learning for 1 semester, then given 1/2-3/4 of a year to forget it all again. Besides, I couldn't stand not having math all the time...:D

block scheduling RULES. I love it. Only 3 classes a day. If you have good teachers that have well-prepared lesson plans then block scheudling will work to your advantage. YOu get more time for tests and you can learn more in one sitting. Plus you only have to books for 3 classes. And the homework load is smaller as well. All in all, block scheduling is very nice.

Our block scheduling works differently: we have 4 classes one day, 4 different classes another day, and this repeats.
Each class is 92 minutes long, I believe.

I really enjoy block scheduling.

I think block sheduling would be best even though I havent really experienced it. I think it is great that you will be able to devote 40 minutes studing for one subject te day before thatn studing 10minuts for 4 subjects. I did take summer school and we had 6 hours of math. I liked it because I have more time to get into the subject. Another thing is normal scheduleing sucks when you have an arts class because it takes you half the period to get your stuff think what to do and clean up.

Block scheduling was a double edged sword. At my HS science gained about 15 minutes per week (ooh, impressive), but the quality of the education itself remained the same, and/or probably degraded a bit as a result of the change. Prior to block scheduling my school had 8 classes spread across 7 time slots. Mondays you went to 1-4 before lunch and 6,7,8 after lunch, tuesdays were 5,1,2,3 with the same afternoon, wednesdays: 4, 5, 1, 2 and so on until friday which was 2, 3, 4, 5. The schedule wasn't idea, and block scheduling allowed us to have only 2 different days instead of 5.

The other benefit, as I already mentioned, was an marginal increase in science time.

There were more problems with scheduling classes you wanted with block scheduling though. Seniors involved with band cannot take AP biology (which I wanted to take) because of schedule conflicts. There are other examples, but I can't think of them right now (I've been out of HS for 3 years now).

well, I lost my train of thought, I'll comment again when I remember what I was saying.

Block scheduling is great. Four classes one day, four the next. Plus two days to do homework.

I'm not in HS anymore but during 9th & 10th I was on regular schedule then for 11th & 12th we had block scheduling. I must say that I preferred the block scheduling.
Only 4 classes a day is a lot better than 7 or 8.

My high school was the same way. Currently my college has moved most classes to 2 hour blocks rather than 1 hour courses. I like it, as long as the prof gives us a 5-10 break to wipe the drool from our faces :)

My HS uses block scheduling.

I hate it.

Sure, its nice only having to carry 1/2 the years stuff around at once.

But.

After 80 mins in the man-hating lesbian English teachers room, I go to French, which is good, that teacher is good. Then I go to the perverted Science for 80 mins and then Geometry, which is a whole 'nother story upon itself.

So it blows if you have bad teachers.

We don't have blockscheduling. Some of the classes are as short as 45 minutes.
Its really annoying carrying all the books around. But usually Im im increadibly bored at the end of 1 hour. After 2 Id definatly be sleeping.

That's only what you think. However, when teachers know that they have two hours instead of 45 minutes, they tend to go at a more relaxed rate and make time for not-so-boring activities.
