How is this any different than "what do you think of a guy who's gay"?

Some guys naturally gravitate toward sports, and others naturally gravitate toward... well, other guys.

Oooohhh - look, another person who brings something totally irrelevant and ignorant to the thread.

FYI - I played offensive and defensive left tackle for about 4 years - got a few MVP trophies in my attic if you wanna see ;)

Uh oh, I remember the last time you invited me up to your attic to see your "trophies" ;)

i disagree. the original question dealt with asking what the members think of someone based on a specific appearance. a similiar question would be, "what do you think of those guys that dress really metro and style their hair, wear pink designer shirts, blah blah blah..." and the implied answer is pretty obvious, as is the implied answer to your question.

Oh yeah - you wore my extra jersey. Which position did you play again - I can't remember - offensive or defensive? :p

WTF? So if someone doesn't like sports, he's automatically a homosexual (just because you say so)? Right...

I could give a sh1t, Ryan. This is a stupid thread. You want to generalize guys who are "too into sports" but don't want it done to you. Which way do you want it Mr. I have a bunch of trophies aren't you all so impressed?

I seem to recall you saying something about a tight end.

by the same token, everyone wearing copious amounts of sports logos is about as smart as the "tin man".

god... apparently I was WAY too subtle for you people. Let me spell it out for the mentally challenged among us, including the OP:

I have nothing against a guy who doesn't like sports at all. Hell, I only watch football. I could care less about the rest. I just thought it insanely ... well ... stupid that the OP posted this thread in an effort to cast such a stupid generalization against people who are "die hard sports fans". So what if that's their passion. Does that make them a lesser person anymore than being gay makes a guy a lesser man?

Get it?

Yes, you were being too subtle. :p

I thought Ryan posted this thread just to prove a point and not because he actually believed that "sports fans are stupid", but I could be wrong. Who knows...

Originally it was - but I do have some personal bias, and happen to think that spectators who make the game their life live a very vapid existance :p

And that's why I pounced, because that's just as ignorant as saying "guys who ignore the other sex live a very vapid existance."

Maybe by YOUR barometer, but newsflash: not everyone enjoys the same things you do. Heck, if they did we wouldn't even be having this discussion in the first place.

I like how people always turn rbloedow threads into a mire of drama; regardless of the topic in the OP.

I have nothng against the casual fan, but I still stand by my assertion. The whole point of this thread was to prove the point that you yourself want to prove.

If you were truely looking for a decent example to counteract the thread and prove your point, you would have chosen something a little more extreme (armchair enthusiasts who make the game their life are def. on the far end of the spectrum), instead of making a personal attack at something that doesn't compare.

It's a fine analogy and the point stands. You want to judge without being judged.

being "too into a sports team" is too broad of a generalization. i am far from a die hard redskins fan but I just like to watch my home team every sunday if I can. however, my gf thinks i am "too into it" because i simply want to watch EVERY game if I can. anyone who knows anything about sports knows watching a game every sunday is far from a die hard fan, as I am believing the OP is talking about.

anyways, when I see a die hard sports fan, I think nothing more than they simply really like the team.

I'd think "this is the guy I want to tailgate with"

Plenty of booze, plenty of grub and probably plenty of fun before the game.
