Serious question - like when you see people with team logos covering everything they own, etc.
How is this any different than "what do you think of a guy who's gay"?
Some guys naturally gravitate toward sports, and others naturally gravitate toward... well, other guys.
WTF? So if someone doesn't like sports, he's automatically a homosexual (just because you say so)? Right...
god... apparently I was WAY too subtle for you people. Let me spell it out for the mentally challenged among us, including the OP:
I have nothing against a guy who doesn't like sports at all. Hell, I only watch football. I could care less about the rest. I just thought it insanely ... well ... stupid that the OP posted this thread in an effort to cast such a stupid generalization against people who are "die hard sports fans". So what if that's their passion. Does that make them a lesser person anymore than being gay makes a guy a lesser man?
Get it?
Yes, you were being too subtle.
I thought Ryan posted this thread just to prove a point and not because he actually believed that "sports fans are stupid", but I could be wrong. Who knows...
Originally it was - but I do have some personal bias, and happen to think that spectators who make the game their life live a very vapid existance
And that's why I pounced, because that's just as ignorant as saying "guys who ignore the other sex live a very vapid existance."
Maybe by YOUR barometer, but newsflash: not everyone enjoys the same things you do. Heck, if they did we wouldn't even be having this discussion in the first place.
I have nothng against the casual fan, but I still stand by my assertion. The whole point of this thread was to prove the point that you yourself want to prove.
If you were truely looking for a decent example to counteract the thread and prove your point, you would have chosen something a little more extreme (armchair enthusiasts who make the game their life are def. on the far end of the spectrum), instead of making a personal attack at something that doesn't compare.
