I guess it's just a name, they could call them Ass donuts and they may taste so so sweet but Krispy Kreme? What's crispy about a donut?

Maybe a burned one is crispy and a creamy donut would in fact be creamy but a crispy AND creamy donut? I would think that a burned donut which at one point was in fact creamy but not crispy would cease to be creamy at the exact point that it became crispy. What do you think?

I never liked Krispy Kreme. Somehow PERFECTLY shaped torus glazed donuts don't appeal to me. It's too friggin' machinemade! I'll take Old Town Donuts here in Florissant ANY TIME! :p

Donuts are fried, hence the term Krispy. I cannot explain Kreme, perhaps a more knowledgeable donut aficionado will clarify for us.

Killbat, have you ever been to a Krispy Kreme? There are several in town and they ARE home made! :D Dunno about the ones that come in a box you buy in a store, though. Why would I buy those when I can get them fresh? ;)

Anyhoo... Krispy Kreme name comes from the "original" flavor which is just a glaze, or "creme". It is actully a "crispy" consistancy like Magic Shell.

I love 'em!

Actually Phreeky DPS was almost right with his Krispy part but not quite.
Krispy Kreme got its name from the fact that the glaze(Kreme) once it dries actually feels Krispy and hence " Krispy Kreme " !

I prefer the the " Apple Cinnamon stuffed " donuts myself.

I saw a business documentary on this business and I thought that they looked really good (cult following to some), but my sister went to one in NY City and she said that that particular store was nothing like the stores in the documentary. Too bad they don't have them here in Canada......... I guess I'll have to make a trip down south to try them.

Cheers,
Aquaman

Another place where Canada has us beat..

donut documentaries.

All of the donut movies I've seen here in the states are full of fake special effects and melodrama.

Probably why I erred in my Krispy Kreme lexigraphic analysis.

Thanks JohnyGURU for straightening out things. How are you so knowledgeable about donuts ? Do you get Canadian cable channels in Tampa ?

They are damn good. You could call them ass donuts, and I'd eat 'em still. I had first seen them in Florida back when i was like 12, then they just got to LA like last year some time. They are a god send. so good :D

late.

they just opened a store in union city, california...about 3 minutes from my house...they're good donuts, nothing to go crazy over especially since they're loaded with fat, and they're smaller than the donuts you can get at supermarkets too...when it first opened there were hour long lines inside and at the drive-through...they're also known for that...every store has a 24-hour drive-through

These donuts rule! I have to drive about 20 minutes to get them though. Fortunately they are opening a new store about 3 minutes from my house :D.

Oh yes. There is only 1 thing finer than eating a Krispy Kreme doughnut. Getting one for free because you're best friends' girlfriend works there.

I remember Lender's had a line of bagels that they called "Big 'n' Crusty" - it was written in big letters across the bag!
