Kim chi gets an honorable mention. Not that familiar with Korean food, but I love kim chi. It's like sauerkraut extended, and I love sauerkraut.
Sauerkraut is like B&W TV. It's amazing, you see moving pictures and audio!
Kimchi is like COLOR TV. It pickling at its peak

How do you eat kimchi if you're right? Just with... uncle bens' rice? Or alone? Or do some weird ass white people thing and eat it with pasta or BBQ?

I eat it as a side dish. Just plain, and many times, right out of the jar. I don't have a particular dish I eat it with. It's like a kraut substitute. I might even have it with hotdogs.

First, you need to dig it out out of the ground. Second, you need to wash off all of the dirt that has accumulated in it's rotten structure. Third, inspect what was once a cabbage and cleave off the rotten bits. Finally, throw the rest away when you realize kimchi is inedible.

White guy who really likes Korean food - sign me up for KimChi, steamy hot rice, scrambled eggs, and a side of kim-chi. Kim chi persian cucumbers are amazing too!

Kim-chi dumplings, Kim-chi soft tofu stew!

there's italian food and then there's pizza.

Yeah you caught me, I've only ever had American-Italian food.

On that thought, I've gotta agree with Zeze. American food is the best. We take food from other cultures and make it our own. American-Chinese food is the bomb, but real Chinese food? No way.

Alright, I need to go read up on cuisines from other cultures. I think I've been missing out on a lot of great food.

There's a big difference between people's conceptions of cuisines like Chinese or Indian, and the reality of how broad those cuisines are given all regional variations and differences in what people eat, often due to religious, economic, and cultural differences even one town to the next. It's often like traveling from one country to another even though it's the same country politically.

Watch Raja Rasoi Aur Anya Kahaniyan on Netflix if you want to see how varied Indian food is.

When I think of authentic Chinese food, I think of stuff like this:

Or this...

Which makes my stomach turn as I'm not a big fan of seafood, and it looks terrifying. But szechuan looks good.

I love watching Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown - everything he eats on that show looks delicious.

Japanese, and you don't need to tip either. Dedicating your entire life to only one thing and perfecting it at the expense of your own happiness is basically a religion over there.

the sad part about dedicating your life to that kind of perfection is that the result is invariably bland. :D

Maybe decades ago but I'd argue that french cuisine is basically stagnant at this point.

I think it could be argued that French has become bland because every cuisine became French in order to be recognized.

At least...I just invented that in my head, and it sounded smart.

If you're so picky and don't eat everything, how do you know what is best?

There was an Indian dude on a Netflix comedy special I watched recently who said it well: "Indian food is the best-tasting food in the world, but also the worst-looking food in the world". I would have to agree. I wouldn't say Indian food is like my favorite all-time food, but I do think, in generally, it is the best-tasting food out there. At least where I live, good Indian food is hard to find, but when you DO find good Indian food, it's freaking amazing.

My first thought was French but I'd probably have to go with Italian. Pizza is my favorite food, after all. And cannoli are freaking awesome.

The pizza I made from scratch around 6 weeks ago was the greatest ever made.

OK, cuisine, i.e. a region or ethnic.

My favorites, I suppose lean to a lot of the Asian, however I love great Mexican.

For Asian, I don't mean Japanese. I don't care for sushi at all and most of the rest doesn't much appeal to me. Teriyaki is OK and tempura can be really excellent, but otherwise I am very underwhelmed compared to a lot of mainland Asian. I'm not a big fish person.

I always try to be a very moderate eater of animals, but this makes me want to gorge myself on the meat.
