What do you think catnip is? And what is it really?

its a plant. you can make tea out of it. though it doesn't do anything to people. but its like crack for cats.

cats like it

LIKE it?? hell, they are crazy around it, they rub against it with tail high, it has to be some sort of universal (as it works for both male and female cats) pheromone...

If i was a cat i would wear it every day!

Nepeta (Nepeta floribus interrupte spicatis pedunculatis) -- "The origin of the name is probably from the Roman Town of Nepeti, where Catnip was cultivated long ago."

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think:
nepeta = ?
floribus = floral/flower
interrupte = scent
spicatis = spice
pedunculatis = pendulum/bell

So do cats actually just eat it or is it supposed to be snuck into their food?

How do they act after they eat it?

It is not the taste they like, it is the smell of it, like, if your cat scratches your furniture, get a clawing board and soak it with catnip, they will do their clawing there...
