45 minutes 4 times a week is perfect.

I do tris/pecs/abs, back/bis, legs. Sometime if I have skipped a few days I skip legs since my upper body is more important to me.

However, if your main focus is to lose weight or improve stamina you should do a lot of cardio. All depends on your goals.

It depends entirely on the individual. I can't have a good pressing workout early in the AM no matter what I do, but yet I can have a great deadlift workout no matter when I go.

For me, 45 minutes is plenty of time to do weights. I don't get sweaty lifting weights, but I get very sweaty on the cardio machines. I go after work, but if I'm behind on time, I'll just do weights and I don't need a shower. I can always run around the neighborhood at home.

45 minutes is plenty of time.

I've lost 40lbs in one year from a moderate diet (1900 cals/day, low sugar intake, no soda, no fast food, plenty of water, small meals every 3 hours, cut back on pizza, etc), running 30 minutes a day a few times a week, and lifting weights a couple times a week.

Certainly I could have done it faster, but I'm pleased.

I go running and swimming on my lunch break a lot. If I don't then I tend to get really bored and sleepy in the afternoon, so much so that I usually pop a caffeine pill. Exercise gets me wide awake and ready to go without that, though.

Absolutely. I used to do that when the weather was cooler. Even with a "cooldown" period, I always sweat like crazy after I get out of the shower...so with the hot weather during lunch, I tend to only workout during lunch in the winter/when it's cooler.
