OK, I took the liberty of pricing this complete system on Newegg, and here are the results:

Took liberty on power supply, case, and dvd-rom, but this is essentially the same system without the assembly. I can make recommendations for you depending on your approximate budget/needs.

If used, no way.

Honestly though, why don't you build yourself a system?
If you go the better price/performance that an Athlon A64 would offer, you can build a better machine for a similar price.

Price checks aren't allowed??? Sorry, didn't know that. That's in USD, by the way, and a couple things are OEM (DVD drives, HDD, RAM, and video). I think Canadian to US is .75:1, so you're looking at about 900 Canadian. Kinda depends on what you need.

BTW, for those of you guys simply doing a currency exchange to get an idea of value, that doesn't work so well, since we cannot get parts for a cheap as what you can.

I'm sure you can find better deals than the above computer, but it's only $999.99, & it'll outperform that $1100.00 one you're looking at in most cases.

Also, you didn't mentioned if your original one came with XP, etc.

Anyway, it doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

Newegg is more expensive in Canada??? If you can't build it yourself, I don't know what to recommend. If you can, go with an Athlon 64 (X2 if you can afford it), and at least a gig of RAM, judging by your usage guidelines. You'll also want at least an x600 or x700pro for the video editing and gaming applications you listed. I always recommend Antec for power supplies and cases, and the motherboard really depends on how technical you are and how much you want to overclock. When I'm done with my upgrades, my whole system cost will be well under a grand, with new mobo, proc, ram, video, case, power supply, opticals, and hdd.

To those who don't comprehend how things are in Canada, here's a little breakdown:

First off, Newegg does not ship to Canada.
Secondly, the major online US stores charge so much for shipping (also, we get dinged with border fees) that is almost never worth it to get stuff shipped up here.
Thirdly, all the big Canadian online etailers are smart, & knowing this, they price everything so that it's basically the same as buying from the US & getting it shipped here.
If you don't believe me, go to NCIX.com, & do an exchange rate change to US dollars on their parts to see how much more we pay for everything here.
Heck, you can even go to Dell.ca
Most of the stuff there costs at least 33% more than in teh US :|

Now that that's out of the way, it is still better for the OP build his own system IMO, unless he really doesn't want to.

newegg isn't in canada yet, the smaller asian stores compete pricewise with newegg generally (though you have to pay tax which is 7% federal + 8% roughly provincial)

so what you do is find these stores websites and pricematch with ncix (if your out of BC you don't pay pst), it'll be a bit more than newegg but your always gambling with customs if you buy from the states (they once stuck me with a 20 dollars customs on a touque)

the intel will be better than the amd in video editing though the gap would not be that large (and be very app-specific), in gaming the amd kills the intel, the amd64's are just cheaper at the respective pricepoints

chip:amd venice 3000+ socket 939 retail 180-200
mobo: asus a8n-e, epox is not easily available in canada so its not really a budget option (since its around 165 CAN), i like the dfi but with the PSU demands and its finicky nature, it might be better to go with the asus, the cheaper msi's are good as well
ram- ram prices in canada still are significantly higher than the states, for example the corsair 2x512 value-select is roughly 150 CAND, its about 85 US
videocards- ati cards tend to be cheaper (moreso in toronto) but basically anything you choose will be many times faster than the radeon 9250 pci
HDD- that harddrive runs around 120 CAN
optical drives- probably not that much difference in prices

its not so bad, if I had bought my upgrades from the states, I would have saved about 60 bucks but factor in shipping and that would probably be down to about 25-30, on 400-500 bucks canadian, its less than a 10% markup (and the american retailers have the advantage of no taxes)

get a dual core CPU. I'm guessing your CPU will cost around 200 USD and doesn't offer EM64T?
