My wife and I purchased a new home and now we are going through the process of remodeling, painting, and buying new furnishings.
Today while out shopping we stopped by Ethan Allen and she really liked the It All Started With A Mouse Table.

So what do you guys think about the coffee table? I'm not sold on it but I can appreciate the aesthetic beauty in its simple lines and curve.

I think it looks dumb but it does have a key selling feature - your wife likes it - and that might override any other considerations.

Wow, that's bad. But Glenn1 has a point. As bad as it is, if the wife likes it....

I should probably point out that the two smaller end tables are not attached to the main table so you can put them in other places around the room. Like at the end of a sofa or beside a recliner.
It doesn't have to look like Mickey Mouse ears like in the link it is three separate pieces. Not sure if that changes anyones opinion but just thought I would throw it out there.

Uh... no.

It's three tables, and the largest is 40"(!) in diameter. That's the size of a small dinner table. That's great, I suppose, if you're a couple who eats dinner on the sofa in front of the TV. Especially with the little satellite tables - they remind me of 1960s' TV tables. So everyone can eat their salisbury steak and mashed potatoes in the living room while watching Perry Mason.

Beside the size, the veneered top isn't very good looking, IMO. Also not a fan of the lip on the table. Round coffee tables can work nicely, depending on your furniture layout, but I'd prefer a flat top.

It's funny you mention that they remind you of having a 1960's look. The sectional we are thinking about buying has a very similar look and feel. We think the Coronado 2 Pc. Sectional is the perfect fit for the coffee table and end tables but without the salisbury steak and Perry Mason. haha

Anyway, thanks for the feedback so far guys. I would say that I will pass it along to my wife but we all know that would be suicide on my part.:D

It's alright, but for $900? Not a chance. If I found that at the thrift shop for ~$20 it might come home with me.

Looks aside, someone mentioned the raised bevel on top. That's gonna be a dirt magnet around the groove. Your spilled drink won't go on the floor, but it'll go up to, and maybe under the bevel, and perhaps affect the appearance over time. Being veneer, the way it affects it may be peeling the top. Or it might get a cool distressed look. Depends on your outlook I guess.

Your wife's opinion is the only one that counts.

Hideous. But it's out of your hands, smile and say "yes dear" and learn to love it or you'll rue the day. This is not important enough to grow a backbone, save your fights for when the outcome matters.

To me it looks awkward, like it would be easy to trip over because it has such an odd ground foot print. Oh actually I missed the part about them not being attached, that's not TOO Bad then. The small ones can be end tables or something. Though I guess they'd be too low for that.

But the wife is in charge, you're going to be getting that table. :p

Incredibly overpriced by knowing it's Disney alone.

And to be honest - it looks so cheaply made that you could honestly do it yourself in 2 weekends.

Completely insane if you buy that. If anything I've learned over the years that furniture can be a solid investment that lasts 30+ years if you buy it correctly.

I'm fine with giving the wife what she wants - you know - basically indirectly paying for sex :p

But... I'm looking at that, and I suck at woodworking - but I think a lot of the users here on AT could make that shit.
