I wouldn't think so. Its just tofu, mushrooms, chicken broth, vinegar, spices, and some egg.

And the sour. Too many places make it all hot and no sour or all sour and no hot. Quite a few make it without the hot or the sour and it's just a bunch of funky looking stuff floating in broth. The only way it really works is if they get the balance just right. Luckily my local favorite Chinese place gets it just right every time. Come to think of it, their expertise with hot & sour soup is why they're my favorite place.

I love hot and sour soup but can not stand egg drop soup. I am really picky about my hot and sour soup, though, too many places just dont' seem to make it quite right. However when you find a place that does have the magic recipe, then it's time for some good eats.

I had some h&s soup last week and while the taste was pretty good, the consistency was awful. It looked like it was 20% corn starch or something.
