I think FEAR kicks ass, and this is why I want to hear about those who don't think it kicks ass. The action alone is worth playing it.

My gripes are the story telling, too confusing. And the reading in between levels kinda suck. Also the answering machines are really stupid. But I love the action and environments.

I thought it kicked ass.

Couple gripes though:
Office levels got a bit repetitive.
Storyline was a bit vague.
I would have thought the graphics were spectacular but I had just finished Quake 4 :p

Those are very minor gripes though. It definately kicked ass.

I need an option between kicks ass and meh. Like "Good". It would have entered ass kicking land with some cool boss fights and more varied enemies. But as it were, it's just good.

I don't see how it got Game Of The Year on IGN, and most reviews I saw of it loved the hell out of it. It was a nice game, 95% of the time I spent was killing dudes in some type of Haz Mat suits. It brought nothing new to the table, and if it wasn't for the visuals, I don't think the game would have gotten above average reviews.

I agree that there weren't too many gameplay innovations. Slow-mo has been done before, as have many other FPS conventions seen in many games. The visuals were however top-notch, and the game brought a creepy atmosphere. It could run pretty roughly though, even with good hardware. Somewhere between kickass and meh seems about right.

it was definately nice to have a really fun FPS, i mean, it wasnt perfect, but at least it was fun, unlike Doom3 or something. my only problem was that i got stuck on using the slowmo thing ALL THE TIME, so i never really experienced a true battle, but i am going to play the game again and try to beat it on hard without any slowmo :p

Unique idea, I liked it originally because of the whole subtle psychological horror aspect of the game as it's a new genre within FPS (I like movies like The Ring)... but playing it about quarter way through I got extremely bored of it and already knew where the story was going. I started cheating my way through the second quarter of it and just randomly stopped playing because of work and also because it didn't interest me anymore.

Best part about it is that plasma-like gun that turns people into skeletons... haha!
