My dog (siberan husky) went to this guys place, who breeds cocks for fighting, and killed one. He ate it in someones front yard.

em ar cock fightn words buddy!

And no not all cock fights involve sharpening heels or attached knives.
You are correct. To me, the regular fights are more entertaining. From what I've seen back home in SE KY, the "knife fights" are the quickest, bloodiest and most dangerous for the handler and spectators. I knew a couple of old boys who sank quite a bit of time and money into their birds, knives and cases.

Yes, it is illegal, controversial but often overlooked by the law in some places. Lots of cash changes hands during those contests.

I have a Filipino friend who lives in the US. He was born in the Philippines and grew to love the sport of Cockfighting. However, since he lives in the US, it is an illegal activity and he really wants to go back to the (inferior)Philippines just so he can pursue his own "hobby" (for lack of a better word at the moment).

I would love to go to a cockfight, I missed one in Costa Rica when i was surfing.

I've never seen a cock fight, and I'm not sure I ever will... but if I had to choose between being slaughered and served at KFC or fighting another chicken, I suppose I would go ahead and fight the other chicken.

kfc serves rooster? I think most chickens you eat are hens.. and.. they don't usually have the choice between bein' fried or fighting.

We live in a civilized world where we have literally an infinite ability for entertainment. We can go watch a movie, a sport game, turn on the tv, go to the theatres, pick up an xbox, or put on a pair of gloves and do your own fighting. There's absolutely no reason why we should have to make other animals suffer for our own entertainment. Ghandi once said that you can tell how civilized a culture is by how well they treat their animals.

The thing is, we have HoeDowns where cowboys do some pretty inhumane things to certain animals, and of course, the whole "prairy dust" thing going on. I hope you labeling the Philippines as 'inferior' wasn't just some ignorant statement that stems from a persons perception of a place he's never been before.
