What do you think about Boston, MA?

Mill

Lifer
I've only been once when I was much younger, but Boston doesn't seem to get the spotlight like NYC. Does Boston suck or is it that it's just overlooked? I can't think of anything positive I've ever heard someone say about the place.

Well, it's full of students... so if you are a student as well, you'll have lots of fun...
Other than that, how dare you compare NYC to Boston.

I  NYC.

Well that's what I'm saying. I've never heard anything good about it, so I always assumed it was a craphole.

Nothing can compare to NYC.

Boston is alright. I went to school in New Hampshire and we hit Boston quite a bit. It's okay, nowhere near as big as NY. Hercules Ale was the best!

Except for it being cold, Boston is great. Lots to do and the people seem nice for the most part. Housing is expensive and the r0oads are congested but the same can be said for NYC, San Francisco and about any other large city.

You're from Alabama yet you somehow assumed it sucked? Hmm, Alabama or Boston (biggest college town in the US?).

My sister lives there she likes it. Quite a bit to do there but I'm also comparing that to my home state of Vermont which has NOTHING to do.

One positive, it doesn't have any New Yorkers, (or a small quantity of them).

However NYC is hard to compare against. Especially with the drive over the past 10-15 years
to clean the city up. Compare New York City now from say 1985. Huge difference. They spent the
time and money to make the city more friendly and a more enjoyable place to be. And its impossible
to compare anyplace to that.

I disagree about one thing...the people aren't nice for the most part. 😉
They're very rude and cranky. People in the south are 100x more nice.

Been there twice within the last 5 years. I think it's a GREAT place to visit for a weekend. Nothing more. No nightlife can compare to NYC's... so don't even try. Boston is nice in its own right and like someone said before... if you're a student or visiting students, it's great.

I grew up in NYC but went to college in Beantown. I really love the city. I wouldn't mind living there again.

I could live without the loser Red Sox fans though. 🙂

As long as:
a.) You can understand them
b.) You don't insult their livestock
c.) You're not a "damn yankee"
and
d.) They don't dress like "thugs" and drive lifted trucks with 15" subs, blaring rap music.

Im applying to Boston U. I was in Boston a few years ago and It's really nice and people seem friendly.(this coming from an Ohioan).

The only rude fsckers from Boston I have come across have been here at ATOT😉
Of course I'm from CA where nobody even talks to you unless they want something from you!

I've never been. But now that I'm living in NYC, I want to take a bus or train there for a weekend trip. It's one of the few major US cities I haven't been to. I'm going to wait until the weather is warmer before I visit, though. 😀

Unless you're in Atlanta since 90% of our residents are "imports" from the northeast that brought their rudeness along with them. 😛

It's cold, foggy, lots of traffic congestion and there is a Dunkin Donuts on every other block.

Seems like a nice place to visit, doubt if I could live there though

People in Cali are nicer too 😀
I've lived in California a little, AL, went to college in TN, and now I'm in MA. I can definitely say that the rudest people were in MA. But overall I'd have to say that it's far better than AL or TN.

Before I came here I thought that Dunkin Donuts had gone out of business...now I see one every 5 minutes.

Boston rocks. I live just outside the city and although I want to live a few other places before I settle down, I'll definaltely end up near or in Boston.
