to empty out an apartment (2 bedroom apartment, but 1 bedroom is empty and there's no really large furniture like a couch).

I was thinking about putting up an ad on craigslist offering to pay someone to come to my apartment and take everything that's not bolted down. what they do with it, I don't really care... I'm moving soon-ish (within the next 2-3 months) and I've pretty much decided that I don't want to take anything with me except the "essentials" (couple boxes of clothes, some books, and my computers / video game systems). my furniture is in good condition, but I'd want to replace it with real (re: not from ikea) furniture after moving anyways.

Nothing if you are giving it to them. Just put something like:

"Free ******, you pick it up, you keep it"

I don't think you would have to pay anything. Just advertise what you have to offer as free.

Keep an eye on the people taking stuff away, however.

the one thing that worried me about putting it up for free, though, is that they'd only take the good stuff and still leave me with crap to deal with.

you can pay your entire deposit and just leave the crap in the apartment and let the apartment manager to deal with it...

umm... does said person also need to clean the apartment? if not, just to haul everything away.. i'd probably want at least $100... if i got paid that i'd take away everything.. then agian i'm a pretty honest person
