Crockpot and pressure cooker combo
I've been using my pressure cooker a lot lately:

1. Cooks stuff faster
2. Lessens the humidity in the house, so less mold issues

This is a super old pressure cooker, I must have bought it around 35 years ago probably in a thrift store. I fashioned my own pressure regulator. The pressure cooker is aluminum and has, get this, wooden handles! It's super smooth and easy to use. It is very pitted on the inside. Don't know that it should concern me, though, smoothing it would be a chore with wet/dry sandpapers. Obviously, every time I use it, it's auto-claving itself (disinfecting). I've rediscovered it recently, happily.

What's a crockpot?

I don't have room on my counter for that instant pot. The pressure cooker hangs from a hook. I've been making soups and stews super fast with it.

My favorite kitchen appliance purchases are my bread machine (actually, the Williams Sonoma one I'm using now I found on the curb), my 650 watt Oster blender (Costco, great price), great Panasonic NB-G110PW FlashXpress toaster oven, and of course, my Sharp microwave (also, IIRC, found on the curb). Oh, and my O'Keefe & Merritt gas range/oven and Amana refrigerator/freezer combo.

No alcohol
I have a lot of alcohol in the house, bottles of whiskey, bourbon, vodka, liqueurs, a case of various ales, a case of cabernet, but haven't touched a drop of alcohol in well over a month. Visiting relatives last week, I drank some wine offered me. I just don't miss alcohol, never have.

I actually like yardwork. Most of it anyway. There's some gratification in seeing it look better after I mow and weed eat. Now raking leaves and the billion f'n pine needles that have canvassed my entire back yard for the last 3 weeks. That part sucks.
I still do all the yard work here that was done by a service before I bought the house.

I like quality chocolate, have some gourmet chocolates. I ration them. Gonna start doing some traveling, my passport application is in process.

All sorts of stuff. Most recently, these rev-a-shelf pull out organizers:
https://www.amazon.com/Rev-Shelf-5W...F8&qid=1480532620&sr=1-1&keywords=rev+a+shelf

You can find them in Home Depot and Lowes, and they have different sizes for different cabinet widths. I put them in after getting sick of bending over, and crawling on my knees to reach pots/pans in the back of our lower cabinets. My gf didn't understand why I wanted them so badly, but she's seen the light and we're both much happier with being able to pull the shelves out and reach everything that we had in that cabinet before.

I love the utensil ones:

My only problem is that I only have like two shelves in my tiny kitchen haha.

Trouble is here you have to do it weekly year round. It gets old quick.

The major thing recently is nearly doubling my rent in an already expensive city to live alone instead of with 3 other guys. It has made saving for an equally expensive house slower, but so worth it in the meantime.

Roommates are only awesome if you have awesome roommates. I had more bad ones than good ones. Living alone is the best thing ever after you have crappy roommates.

The nice thing about marriage is that you get to pick your roommate for life, haha.

So many great ideas for the kitchen in this thread. But I think my first purchase for the new place is going to be a fake full-size christmas tree instead of our usual 2 foot tall one. We finally have a real living room. 🙂

Even with a real house and living room, we still don't have a good spot for a tree. Too much crap to reshuffle every time we'd want to put one up

My friends just moved & donated their pre-lit fake tree to us. Wasn't too sure about it until we got it up...gloooooooooorious. So simple. So easy. I don't think I'll ever go back 😀

We put ours in the staircase area. Ours does that 90degree turn thing so it has a little area for it.

I thought about a real tree..but then i had to carry it back to the apartment..then carry it up 6 flights of stairs..so fake tree and stand included it is.

It used to be hookers + blow + The Rolling Stones-up loud-in that order. Then I got married. Now its hookers and blow.

I am 99.99% sure that your life is miserable that is why you don't believe my words. I guess you should probably think twice about anything before you speak Duh!
If you were not a bot, you could read my posting history and tell I am a ray of sunshine in a dark world. 😀 If you are human, you write like a vacuous materialist. Both you and the hubby, needing a new fix all the time, to experience that brief high, before needing to buy something else to fill that hole inside. Either way, your measure of happiness is of no consequence to me.
