Web dev. And I do just enough to report back to the manager with once a week during our team meeting.... mostly on Ebay, here, or googling stuff of interest.

I would do more, but it's all so flipping boring to me these days and I have no idea what else to do.

It just dawned on me that my job involves little more than going to meetings, suggesting an idea or two, and initiating and replying to a lot of e-mail.

What are your regular tasks at your job?

You do TPS Reports

i call in to the office to see if they have anything scheduled for me for the day (despite repeated requests, i dont get this emailed to me the previous afternoon)

after noting that, i call my boss, and my co-worker to tell them my schedule

then me and the co-worker head to our service area, usually hit up the office for 15 minutes to get supplies, hand in paperwork, go over various service issues

then we ride out, do an install, maybe a service call, grab lunch, call to see if my schedule changed, do another install or service call, hit up a gas station or somewhere for a drink or something, another install or service call, if i have time i head to the office to turn in paperwork for the day, find out what i need to know from the admin about upcoming service calls, complain a bit, go home.

on a busy day, i usually do 4-6 hours of actual work. last friday was very busy, i think i did 9 or so, but thats unusual.

I bury telecom cable. The most painful job I have had yet.

I watch service on telecom/fiber cables. Making sure people that bury cables don't cut existing cables. Also maintain the telemetry network for the fiber/radio sites.

Depends on the day.
Anything from rebuilding crashed PCs to helping people with insignificant annoying errors with Office to troubleshooting network problems to setting up networks at construction jobsite trailers.

I spend my day building servers, getting them online, rebooting boxes, doing random crap (replacements, upgrades, cleaning, etc), and monitoring... it's pretty easy to surf the net and multitask while doing all of it, and on a slow day, I just sit around watching the monitoring system and goofing around online, waiting for something to crash.
