Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way my boss can't see me, heh - after that I sorta space out for an hour. Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.

:Q What is your profession?

Sounds like customer support for legacy equipment.

write policies
change policies
take payments

Analyze company financials and insurance applications while trying to decide what kind of risk they are. All of this can be done in about 1-3 minutes. Then it is about an hour of documenting what I am doing and why thanks to Sarbanes-Oxley and state insurance boards.
Then there is the time between accounts that I spend reading threads here.

I retouch photographs.

That is to say, I was hired to retouch photographs. Usually I just move the windows around, zoom in/out, pan around, copy some files, paste them somewhere else, delete them, reboot my computer, surf the web, and so on.

I support enterprise applications at several levels: code support/tuning for custom applications (Java & VB), user support, vendor support, attend about 5 meetings a week, reply to emails, write Crystal Reports ...

It really depends....today was rather quiet.

Today's high notes:
Reply to some emails for executive handholding
Setup some new extensions on the PBX
Configure some IP phones to go with the extensions and ship to field personnel
Bitch at an ISP for firewalling a VPN client at a remote site
Order some additional IP phones
Order a couple of cheapy 24-port switches for shipment to remote sites
Finally, some general housekeeping and a couple helpdesk responses

I'm a field service tech. Install, configure, and support all network infrastructure in "my region" for my company.

That's 95% of it. The other 5% is just BS'ing with the people I'm helping.

What the hell. I can almost forgive dr150 with only 2k posts (though he has been around for a while), but intogamer, you lose your geek card.
