Lookin for something a little different, or a slightly different twist on a familiar title. We get together every month or two and usually have something interetsting to whet our appetites, but this summer, all the multiplayer games simply blow huge. Any suggestions?
We currently play:
UT (duh, with all kinds of different maps, mods, etc)
Halflife/CS
Kingpin
Q2 (cause Q3 sux :))
Motocross Madness (and part 2 will be played at the next gig)
StarCraft
Age of Kings

Any other ideas? Something that simply HAS to be played?

Thanks all,
--Brian

I agree, I don't think you are missing any really good multi games. No matter how hard I try I still can't get away from Starcraft and AOE2. They are just that damn addictive. ;)

Yeh Starcraft mainly like you say so addictive and always have a different outcome especialy with new players.
AOE2 sometimes but takes a little long to get going and forever to end. The only thing I hate is spending time with newbies comming along, is time setting up their computers with games they dont have.
Some even have like P133 and wonder why they cant run Q3 so they spit chips and end up trashing you home and eating all you food caus they cant play games.
I think we have to start having a min requirements with a bouncer at the door

Tribes?
Or how about Tiberian Sun, though many say it is crap compared to older C&C games.
Rogue Spear?

Motocross Madness would be helluva fun to play at a lan party. Just from the demo of the second one (which just gives one of those open areas to do tricks) I could tell that even that mode would be hilarious to play with like 8+ people. It would be fun watching what other people do and running into each other and stuff :p

Damn I wish I knew even like 2 computer literate people near where I live that would be able to bring their computers to my house :)

I was always into any racing game... Maybe that explains all my speeding tickets.

You guys should be playing DOOM!!! AHHHH!!!!!!!!

I love Doom :p There are patches and stuff now that allows you to play with like 32 people I believe... And ones that let you look up and down and jump and a bunch of awesome stuff. All thanks to the game being open source ;)

I want to have a lan party so bad its not even funny :)

I am deathly afraid of LAN parties, my real world friends would ask where the hell i was and id be to afraid to tell them. I dont think i will ever go to one. Playing a few games of Starcraft, Unreal, and AOE online are enough for me.

the point is to have lan parties with your real world friends
you don't see a bunch of strangers getting together to frag, unless it was some bigass event like quakecon or something.

You HAVE to check out Die by the Sword. You WILL laugh your asses off. We fire it up at least once per LAN party.

Other than that sounds like a lot of fun.

Yep, Eagle__2, we played tribes once or twice, but wasn't a large hit, mainly because 1) you need a voodooX card or it runs like poopies, and 2) you have to share out the internet connection, which can sometimes be a pain in the rear. We also have one or two girls who usually come but don't play the games, then surf your damn computer for MP3's and such and slow you down while you play, so you have to turn off filesharing, etc. and it becomes a pain. But they play Age of Kings, or whatever, so even if you have 8 other titles that are gonna be played, they still come, make trouble getting connected to the network, etc, slow the gamers down, then play their one game, and go back to slowin us down.

Sorry for the rant, will have to look at the Infiltrator Mod for UT (Thanks Genesis) and C&C was never a big hit at our parties. Neither was Total Annihilation. It was Starcraft from the beginning. We are looking for something new to take our attention, and Counter-Strike takes too Damn long to install and patch, etc, and then you barely have enough people to form two teams (if the group is 10 or less, with no/poor internet sharing).

Also, any recommended Nat programs to share out DSL/Cable? ICS just blows to set up, I'm looking for something that just needs to have a client installed and voila! Plug-and-play beauty. Any ideas?
