besides a passport...

what if you dont have a passport or if it's expired. will a regular driver's license work?
what about if youre 17?

hmmpgh ty

Maybe birth certificate just incase, oh and don't cross in the middle of the night with a little burn weed in your ashtray.

You need your driver's license. That's all they ever ask me for and I've crossed many times. Sometimes they don't ask for any ID at all.

Passport makes it the easiest. You can go with just a driver's licence or birth certificate, however. They ask more questions if you don't have a passport.

I have gone to Canada maybe 10 times since 9/11 and they have asked my for a DL and birth certificate 8 times, at least. They will be hard on you if you are with a bunch of other teenagers, as well.

All you just is your driver's license and if your driving, you need to call your insurance company and get them to send you a temporary Canadian insurance card. It didn't cost me any more, it just took a week to get it.

Crossed into Quebec in August. I don't have a passport, so I just used my DL. The guy kind of questioned me a little about why I didn't have one, but then waived me through. Don't know about age - but I suspect they see a lot of teenagers going over the border to drink....

The Americans give you more of a hassle coming back than the Canadians give you leaving. Apparently this country isn't open to it's own citizens anymore (according to some powertripping DHS agents)
