Shockwave your right for the most part i appreciate what i have though because i know i have a lot more than most people. I don't really think the world owes me anything but i think there is alot they could change but don't. This forum has helped me in seeing this. Most of the people my age that i know are what you describe. They live in a fantasy world. This is why i don't know what im missing i have so much but find so little.

Nice to see you didnt take it as a flame, wasnt meant to be.

MY opinion? Todays youth is disillusioned by the world because they DO have everything. The media bobardment of shyte they think they need, the fulfillment of that. Over and over.
Kids used to have about 6 toys, 3 of them being what they found in the yard. Kids used to play ALL DAY with nothing but sticks and rocks. A balled up sock would keep them entertained for hours. Give them a sandiwch in a bag and you wouldnt see them till sunset. And I dont just mean 15 year olds. I mean young kids too.
I think society has degraded from a "explore, learn and entertain yourself" to a "here, here, here" mentality. Rather then get out there and have a stick or rock or ball and use your head and play, kids just sit all day and push buttons and stare at a TV. Theres no attachment to what kids have, because they have SO MUCH. Hundreds of toys. And still bored. Does this even make sense?

I say this, becuase I was one of those kids who didnt have every toy under the sun. Half the toys I had were my dads old toys. Now what kept me occupied most of my day? Wandering around with a stick or something with my friends. Spending the day out at Beals Ponds (Old gravel pits) fishing and wandering around goofin off. Playin ball at the park. Wrestlin with my friends. Find a mudhole, we'd be entertained for hours.

To put it bluntly? I think kids today are SPOILED.

I agree 110% with this post. Of course I am only 21 yrs old and don't have the life experience of someone older than me. However I luckily am a very observant person. After seeing many of my friends grow up with so much and still complain it really disgusts me. Complaining about a car that their parents BOUGHT for them, things of that nature. Then seeing these people grow up with no respect for their parents and expect everything to be handed to them.

Don't get me wrong it's nice to have support from your family. But you can't let them become your crutch or in some people's case crutch(es). Heck I borrowed A large sum of money from my grandma to make the downpayment for my house. But because of my upbringing I knew I would have to pay it back w/ interest.

Sorry, I could rant about this forever. Especially after seeing it first-hand growing up with the generation in question...

I agree 100% with this too. So many of the grabby, whiny members of my generation piss me off. I have it all. I know it, and I'm damn greatful for it. Sure I whine from time to time, but I try my best to keep in mind the fact that compared to 90% of the population of the world, I have it so easy.

Skull, I feel your pain buddy.....
I wish I had the answers but, I don't.
only suggestions....

What you need is some "visceral experience" go to a museum, read a book,(their are so many excellent ones out there, maybe Walden would help right now) go canoeing etc.... their are so many things out in the there that you can do to might help you to realize, how it is exactly, that you want to percieve this world and how you want to live your life.

At least thats my approach.....
I'm not going to say it fully works but, it helps.

You have nothing else to live for?

That would be correct. He has chosen to forgo everything normal about being a human being and sublimate his desire to live into a desire to serve his Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.

Some people are just fvcked up... It is an amazing thing...

YES!!
Put down the materialistic mind numbing shyte in you rlife, and go LIVE LIFE! :)

Go OUT during the day. It doesnt matter where, just get out on a nice day and enjoy it. A bike ride, go to the park and walk around. Hell man, feed ducks. Find a puddle and splash in it. Life is no good if you cant splash in a puddle! (Yes, I still splash puddles) Go to the museum. Maybe try fishing? Photography is an excellent hobby. Then in the evenings, find a good book. Anything. Fiction, sci fi, history.... These are the things to be happy man ;)

After you die, what happens to the stuff you live for?

Your Money will be someone else's.
Your Fame will be shifted to tomorrow's celebs.
Your buildings will eventually crumble and deteriorate.
Someone else will replace your position of power (job).
Your memory will be lost to Alzheimer's or from being senile
Your desires may be satisfied only but temporarily.

You have one life to spend. You can't keep it. Your body and time is limited. So what should you spend it on? How about something that truly lasts? Then forget about the stuff above; they're what you can work for, but not what you should live for.

What do YOU currently live for? What SHOULD you live for?

Oh, I agree, but even the kids who had 3 toys growing up will still question the meaning of life when they reach their 20's. I know, because I'm one of those kids. I grew up poor, and learned to appreciate what I get, but it still doesn't translate into a reason for living...

hey, I've got an idea. Why don't we round up everyone who thinks differently from you, has different reasons for living, likes different TV shows, and so on, and put them all into camps. Then we can kill them. After all, since they don't share your oh-so-enlightened views on everything, they are obviously "fvcked up" and you would be doing the world a favor by obliterating them. As the sole arbiter and possessor of absolute truth, YOU should dictate how each and every person lives every day.

Sound good?

I have so much stuff i want to do in life but I know i will never be able to do it all. Thats just makes me ask why bother at all. I don't believe in god and have no beliefs just that anything is possible. I know this is what bothers me the most because i don't know how to live. I want to do the right thing but i don't know what the right thing is. Sometimes i just want to die to have all my questions answered but i don't even know if they would be.

skull ... try something different

- call UNICEF or UNHCR or WWF and ask for volunteer opportunities
- if you have useful skills, volunteer to teach some adult ed classes at the local community college
- if you have cash to spare, help some poor kids thru college

death doesn't bring any answers... it just makes the questions go away

Wow, you sound like me about 12 or so years ago, but I join the Air Force, found a great man and have 3 beautiful children. I recently watched my mom pass away:brokenheart:, that made me have to ask myself again, why am I here. I believe that there is a purpose for all of us even though we may not ever know what is. You just need to remember that you are part of something bigger than you.

Then again, yeah for the sex as Shockwave mentioned. It's a great thing:D!

At the moment I live to pay alimony and child support; with the dream of finding true love someday.
