My neighbor's yapping rat dogs (three on one side, two on the other). Chihuahuas, Miniature Pinchers and the like are the spawn of Satan. People who treat them like their children are a close second.

I hate it when someone in the front of a canoe, complains about me being lazy, when I back steer using the paddle.

I also hate it when someone parodies my post, in the very next post.

Finally, I also hate it when I have spent 15 minutes, creating a too big forum post, and then need to confirm one or two details. So I google the answer on another window or tab, and past in the link/answer or I'm happy with the confirmation. Then out of force of habit, I close it, and sometimes miss or something, losing the entire post.
Been so long since I've been in a canoe but that's a good one. Last time someone did that to me I paddled us in circles until he admitted he was a moron.

I hate it when I see a thread I want to post in, but it's already on its second page.

What Do You Hate?

I hate that I don't go after the best things on a consistent basis. Instead, I go after the pretty good things. But not the best things.

For example, I know that exercising every day, eating healthy foods, and going to bed early makes me feel wonderful. I have endless energy, no fatigue, I feel great...but I'd really rather eat junk food, stay up late, and skip exercising for the day. I mean, I know how TO exercise, how TO eat healthy, and how TO exercise. And I have motivation to do it, and I know how to motivate myself. And I have the desire to do it, and sometimes I'll even commit to doing it, but deep down, what I really want to do is be a little child and act like I'm still in grade school haha. It's terrible!

If I really went after the best things, I'd have a six-pack, a clean house, I'd be bright-eyed & bushy-tailed all day because I'd feel good from getting a solid night's sleep every night, and the list goes on and on and on. Every aspect of my life would be better. I'm not afraid of work, I'm not afraid of commitment, in fact in terms of things like health & fitness I am an enthusiast and not just a sideline-watcher, but I don't know what it is. It's not even really self-sabotage because I've accomplished those things before - having good sleep hygiene, eating right, exercising every day. But those are just examples - the same goes for school, work, equipment, hobbies, etc.

I guess part of it is that it's easier to do good thing but not the great thing. But in truth, doing the great thing gets even easier because once you're setup doing it, it's cake - once you've lost weight & are in the habit of hitting the gym, it's easy. I've read some psychology stuff about how we self-sabotage ourselves because we don't think we deserve things, or how we aren't truly committed, or about how we tend to migrate back to what we know, even if it hurts us. Human nature is a really fascinating thing to study and a really frustrating thing to live with :p

When she insists on not writing my order down then checks back 3 times to verify.

Oh my gosh, this. Except that they get it wrong 90% of the time. I have food allergies and I'll specifically ask for say no cheese on my burger because I'm pretty dang allergic to dairy. She'll come back with the drinks & appetizer and I'll remind her - no cheese. She'll confirm and says she'll make sure to check it with the cook, and lo & behold, she comes back with my burger covered in cheese. So either all waiters & waitresses are trying to kill me, or there's a missing link in the communications protocol between ordering & delivery :D

I think pretty good is good enough, and "best" is relative. Junk food, and beer are enjoyable. If you cut them out completely, you'd probably be in better physical condition, but then you wouldn't have junk food and beer. Doing anything you want in moderation is best for a varied, and mentally/physically healthful life. Besides, being overly concerned about health and fitness can turn into a mental disorder, and one can get OCD about it. Everything becomes a mental workout, and simple things like getting dinner out become a minor ordeal, instead of just enjoying it.
