My pet peeve of the day is zip bombs. I just downloaded an album, and when I extracted it, it puked all over my download folder. Sometimes I check them first, or contain it in a temporary folder, but sometimes I just roll the dice and see what happens. Today I got a bunch of loose files. At least they were named closely, so they were all together.

Not a huge deal, but it's fuckin' irritating. I wish people packed archives right so they'll extract into a folder :^/

Hahahaha yeah I hate those too.

What I absolutely cannot stand these days is annoying websites. Websites full of javascript crap like things that follow you, mouse overs, or just have so much javascript that it actually takes long to load for no reason, not to mention makes extensions like noscript go nuts because you have like 20 URLs you have to allow just to see the site. Unacceptable. News sites are probably the worse for that. The absolute thing that I hate the most is those javascript "popups" that gray out the screen. Ad blockers normally wont block these as they're not always ads, sometimes it's bugging you to register, or fill out a survey, or some other BS, but it's annoying because it completely stops you from continuing to read whatever you were trying to read. The worse is the ones you can't X out. The youtube "real name" notification is a good example of something like this.

Having just gotten off the phone with IT support for the third day in a row to fix a login issue, I would have to say customer service over the phone. I always get someone who is unable to help ("I'm sorry.."), gives me the runaround, gives some excuse (and if you call back you'll get someone else who gives a different excuse), or someone who is ignorant and/or rude.

The last time I called customer service outside of my job was to AT&T to figure out the status of a returned phone (it had a damaged screen) a month after I had sent it back. Took 9 calls and 4 online chat sessions over 2 weeks to finally get some results, and the rep who finally helped me wasn't over the phone but over chat. I got really annoyed by one guy with a condescending attitude, even though I'm normally very calm. Tip for anyone who has to deal with AT&T: try going through chat first if you can, unless it's something simple.

"Hate" is a bit extreme and it's all relative, but I find phone customer service very frustrating sometimes.

I hate people who call me just before my store closes to tell me "Can you wait a few minutes? I'm headed that way". Then they take 20 minutes to get there and it turns out that they wanted a refund for an article of clothing that they had clearly washed in their washing machine and dried in a hot dryer causing it to shrink, and making it too small for them.

Fuck those highly hypothetical people.

Yea, js is way overused. One positive is it acts as a sanity check for viewing the site. If there's a ton of scripts, I'll pause before doing anything, and decide how much I really want to see it. Usually it's the crappiest sites, with the crappiest "news" that overuse scripts, so bailing on it keeps it from getting funneled to my eyes. If I decide I really want to see the site, I'll either selectively go through the scripts, or open the page in a private session of Midori. I keep a shortcut that opens it directly in private mode, so it's fairly convenient.

Never understood why it didn't become common for unzippers to have an option to warn you if it's unzipping something that contains more than a single directory at the root. And give you the option to put it in a directory.

I hate overly-greeting friendly businesses. Went to Moe's the other day and everybody that walked into the store got bombarded with annoyingly loud 'Welcome to Moe's' from the entire staff working. That meant that I had to hear that crap the entire time I was there. I know they want to appear friendly but 30+ minutes of that shit was too much.

Mine always puts it in a folder regardless, creating one with the same name as the zip.
Universal extractor is what I use, works with everything, even installer files that don't give options to not install some included file.

Do shoplifters feel like they're being watched if they get greeted?

Job interviews where they let you linger on for months, saying repeatedly that you did great in the interview, stringing you along like you're going to get the position, telling you how great it is there... and then nothing. No letter of rejection, no offer, no updates, just like nothing ever happened.

I hate Roddy White for trying to play through his injuries and then re-injuring himself rather than sitting out of a few games to get better.

When you try to go to a restaurant and they have some stupid event going on with some shithead on a PA calling out crap that no one can understand and no one should care about.

Also, when you go to a restaurant and they have live music. Music in restaurants is ALWAYS too loud. I don't even have a problem with live music, it's the volume. You have to shout to have a conversation.
