What do you guys use to keep cables stuck to the wall?

Hi all,

I'm going to run some cat5 cable about 33meters mainly because I can't stand the pings from wireless (I have to go through like 5 walls because of poor placement, which I regretfully can't change). I ordered some cable (about 6 meters will go unused, which isn't bad incase i need to extend further) and found my overall distance by running the wire on the top corner of the walls. Now I cannot use a nail, or otherwise any fastener that will leave a hole (how ever small) in the wall.

Does anyone use any type of adhesive or other solution with good results? Thanks

Panduit makes some adhesive channel. I'd recommend sticking it to the baseboard versus the wall, to prevent damage to the plaster or drywall.

Home Depot and similar stores stock stuff like this.

3M makes adhesive clips of all sizes that do not peel paint when removed. Can stick to drywall and baseboards. Won't be as pretty as a channel, but very effective. Usually sold in aisle with duct tape and adhesives at Wal-Mart and Target.

I use my staple gun that uses cable staples sparingly.

wiremold.com <-- Expensive, but looks good.
Staples or cable clips <-- Uber cheap, but ain't the prettiest.

I use a combination of the above, depending on the area.

P.S. The Wiremold adhesive channels are tough to get off once attached, and when you do get them off, often they leave adhesive material which also hard to remove.

It's a lot easier to remove adhesive clips, because there is a lot less of it.

I use a hot glue gun and stick a twist 'n tie to the baseboard every 4 to 6 feet or as needed.


downside is that when you pull the glue blob off the wall sometimes the paint comes off, but i have touch up paint.
