What do you guys use for e-mail/calendar?

I like Apple's integrated tools, but honestly, I mostly just use Gmail for email instead of Mail.app. Google has released Sync, which syncs your iPhone's calendars and contacts with Google Apps, so now my iCal/iPhone/Gmail account can all be synced effortlessly. Link here:

Gmail/Mail.app/iPhone Mail + iCal/Gmail Calendar/iPhone Calendar...mmm 🙂

I have no need to access exchange so I have no idea how well/poorly Mail handles that. But I just use Mail and iCal.

I think you're SOL for exchange support unfortunately. Supposedly, Snow Leopards Mail.app might have native exchange support, but even then, I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

Mail/iCal, for my purposes it works just fine. Does Thunderbird support Exchange?

What are you using to sync changes made in iCal back to Google, or are you using iCal "read only"?

Evolution for exchange access on Linux. Windows port of Evolution is garbage, not sure about any Mac builds.

At home I use thunderbird/sunbird/lightning synced with my google apps email/calendar....though not on a mac. If I had a mac, I'd probably just use mail.app and google's syncing tools for ical.

I just use google mail and calendar. Then I use imap on my iphone and nemusSync to sync the calendars on my iphone.

I would use the new google sync for the iphone, but the iphone only supports a single exchange account and I need to have my personal gmail calendar synced, and my work gmail calendar.

For Exchange, Entourage is really the only game in town. Mail.app can be set up for exchange access using webDAV (assuming you're on 10.5.5+), but you're still pretty much SOL on calendar. Your only other real option is to use OWA (web interface for Exchange) for both.

But since you're primary concern is the email, Mail should work for you.

Mail works great for Exchange if you don't need the calendar syncing and just want to get your emails. This is what I use. Entourage's UI is atrocious IMO, and I don't like how it lays everything out. I've tried to get accustomed to it, but I just can't.

As for Calendar apps, I just use iCal. I have very limited Calendar needs, however.

Entourage feels very bulky for me. I'm not a big fan of Outlook and Entourage feels very close to that in my book.
Mail and iCal are what I use in OSX.

Personally I use gmail in firefox and iCal (along with sync). I've been meaning to check out Fluid which makes site specific browsers you can add to your dock. It looks pretty cool, especially since I use a bunch of online apps.
