My company really hates the hardware time clock we have at work, and wanted to switch to a software one so it can automaticly tally up the hours, just something very very basic. Anyone have any ideas?

Nothing says we dont trust you the the employees like a big brother electronic timeclock 🙂

How many people?

An old company I worked for had a simple webpage-style timekeeper on the network... you would log in, and there was a button to punch in, one for out to lunch, one for when back, and one for punch out. It would display a table of your hours worked for the past two weeks too.

just find a hardware one that connects via Ethernet. Kmart has one and it's God-only-knows how old.

Heh.. i work in a restaurant so you clock in on the touch screen and it goes to the computer that runs the whole thing.

heh, ours is connected via a serial cord.

We have Intermec time clocks for our hourly employees. They all have ID badges with barcode and they would swipe the ID badges at the time clocks as you would with a credit card at the stores.

I think those are a bit overkill for your small company. I would recommend get one with punch in cards as they have at Office Depot/Office Max and the likes (cheaper and easier to maintaince).

I hate intermec...that companies so large and a huge competitor of ours.

We use an excel spreadsheet at our company. Everyone keeps track of their time becuase it's a small company and we need to know how much to bill out NRE services for...
