What do you guys think?

I think today's standard of beauty is out of whack with reality, and sets up both men and women (women far more, however) to put forth inordinate effort and finances toward looking "good".

This is not to say that people shouldn't take care of themselves, but a flat, toned stomach should not be the benchmark that it is.

Edit: That film shows exactly what the advertising industry I work in does - we highlight, clean up, resize, de-wrinkle, shave, and otherwise "make perfect" every model shot we use. There are lots of people who make a living doing just that and nothing else.

I think after all the "touch-ups" that were done, she still isn't hot.

Then again, beauty is often missed because the eyes aren't seeing the heart and soul inside.

*Did I really just say that??? Hmm...

Now you guys can see why I post "NO" in every thread I find that says "HDV would be great for pr0n". 😉 Rivan gets it. The running joke we have in discussions on the RED Cinema camera on how the makeup artist will again be a big job in film and video. 😛

Regardless if it sells Dove (and I was thinking it was going to be the M&M Mars one), I still think it is a great PSA. Need to show this to my girls.

Yeah, a few of my friends work in the film industry in Austin. They tell me stories. One even does video editing of this caliber.

I'm fine with fixing skin blemishes and discoloration, but once you make anotomical changes such as bigger eyes, longer neck, narrower cheeks, etc. it becomes artificial.

Why even bother paying a model lots of money then. Just get an average looking intern pay her $10 and retouch the picture to look exactly what you want it to, no???

It is called product placement and image. You have to tie the face to an image, and some girls are more outgoing and able to "sell" that image better than an intern.

well that's maybe the case if the model is also a spokesperson or if the model is a celebrity, but that's not always the case. I'd think magazines could save a whole bunch of money by hiring average looking girls and retouching the crap out of them for generic photoshots.
