What do you guys think of XP?

Not good enough at the moment for me to upgrade from Win2K. Maybe when WinXP SP2 becomes available, I'll make the switch.

<< its good but not the best >>

I have had nothing but problems with it doing tech support. Of course, nobody calls in and says "hey, I have WinXP and everything's workin perfectly! Thanks guys! *click*"

does anybody know if xp support 3dfx voodoo3 3500tv?
i would like to change to xp, but i don't want to keep the tv tuner function on voodoo3 3500tv
so if anybody can help me out here

fisher price covered rubbish. It takes the personal out of personal computing. What is the fun in having everything laid out for you, hiding options you are used to, and fagging up the GUI worse than a 4th graders notebook.
No thanks, I'll stick with *nix

From what I've used it, it looks like Win2k with a new look. I'm using Win98SE; guess I might have to, uh, make the move to XP. (Couldn't bring myself to use the word "upgrade" there.😀)

It's not bad, I'd put it about even with Win2000, except that I already have Win2000 and a few minor programs won't run under XP, so I prefer 2000 slightly.

XP is a decent OS if you are getting a new system go with it. I'll stay Win2000 myself, not much to offer me for the price from WinXP.

I like it but I wont be making the move from Win2K just yet - I'll wait for the first service pack to be released.

I used it for a little while on my laptop (It came preinstalled), then changed back to win2k. In my experience, XP is a nice OS, stable, good looks, some nice features. However... It still has some bugs to work out (INFINITE LOOP!!! GAH!!, espicaly with my laptop, since the nvidia drivers conflict with XP's speedstep implementation.) I love it how it auto loads drivers for network printers it encounters, boot up times are great...if only they would fix some of the bugs!!

I was using 2K for stability, and 98SE for gaming. Now XP does both very nicely.

Granted, some drivers are a bit immature, and a few games have a bug here and there, but over all, it's great. In a year, it will be even better.

I'm very pleased with it.

So far it has worked well for me. It is running on my wifes machine now and she hasn't been able to crash it in several days. Her computer crashing used to be an everyday occurence. That is why I built her a computer of her own. She is the Sampsonite Gorilla of computers but much better looking, not hairy and not as large. 🙂

IMHO XP is just Win2k SP2 with WindowBlinds Skins and a few added wizards and patches. 😉 I'm not impressed with it as of yet, but I do think M$ will make it worthwhile to purchase XP in the near future. The most important aspect of XP: home users are truly seeing the benefits of NT. 😉
