I am graduating from College this Spring with a B.S. in Computer Science Information Systems. I was just browsing through some monster.com stuff and came across this job. Sounds like it could be alot of fun for someone like me, who enjoys the hardware aspect as well as networking too. This sound like a good job to you or no?

If you want to get into programming, don't take it (since you said computer science). If you don't care about becoming a programmer someday, then take it.

My thoughts exactly :) I hate programming, but it sounds excellent to me. Sounds like I would just run the Comp labs and stuff.

you are probably going to be tech support for a computer network on campus. the only thing that might be a problem is the 3 year experience line.

Yeah I figured that would be the only hold up. But it seems like my Bachelors will make up for their minimal req. of an Associates degree.

You have a CS degree and you want to work at the Help Desk? Why don't you apply your skills and let the regular joes handle support?

Honestly, I hate programming, well, not really hate, but I don't enjoy it as much as hardware aspects. But this seems like it could help me land a better job if I stick to this for about 3 years or so.

Why would you major in CS if you hate programming?

Then again, you'll gain some valuable experience if you take the job. Good luck.

The answer is greed. He wants the money and prestige of a CS degree.

You said CS information systems. Is that more of an MIS type degree than a true CS degree?

Reality check: your degree doesn't specify your career.

I have a BS in CS and I'm a Sys Admin and Point of Sale installer.

If he has hopes of being a Sys Admin or doing network support you have to start somewhere. This job is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and get some good hands on training that you wouldn't get in a class room. It pays pretty well for what it is too.
