Are their any issues with this monitor? My dad decided to be super generous and order me one for Xmas.

I have no idea how much he paid for it.

Ive never had an LCD before. How annoying is backlight bleeding?

Also, is backlight bleeding common on LCDs or are the 2005fps just generally defective (as in: was it a bad choice?)?

if its there... it could range from not at all to very. depends on your sensitivity to it. it's pretty much only noticeable when your whole screen is black, though. on mine one corner is slightly brighter than the others, but i don't notice it at all when watching DVDs or TV on it.

Thanks, quick response. I edited my reply above to ask: Also, is backlight bleeding common on LCDs or are the 2005fps just generally defective (as in: was it a bad choice?)?

Are you speaking from personal experience?

2005FPW's are one of the best monitors out there so it definatly wasn't a bad choice. Yeah some do have some bleeding but most folks don't notice/care. I have heard there are some ways to get rid of it but I don't recall what they are.
anyways thumbs up to ur dad for getting you a dope monitor!!!

Dad gets a big thumbs up this year. $1500 computer plus this monitor. I was amazed by his generosity. Maybe its cuz this is my last year before going off to college?

Now I just gotta figure out what to get him in return.

I just got one and it has some backlight leakage but you cant see it unless your screen is dark. Ive been playing games and using the internet I cant tell so im pretty happy with it.
Im not going to be anal about it and send baCK 2 or 3 just to get a perfect black screen with no leakage since I never just sit in front of my monitor and stare at a black screen , hehe.
Its an awesome monitor to play hl2, d3,q4 on.

Rest at ease

All LCDs have slight backlight bleeding

Older 2005 had some very bad batches. I believe the newer revisions are better (or people just don't complain as much)

The 2005 is a wonderful monitor with very few peers. A pretty good choice.

If it does end up bothering you I've heard some people saying that laying your monitor on it's face for a day or so will take help 'seal' the panel and reduce the bleeding. I didn't do this with mine because it's a non-issue.

Father did something similar for me, too. Bought me a PC as a graduation present, P4 3.0E and a 9800Pro.. and I was upgrading from a P3 555Mhz w/ a FX 5200 (previously a P2 366Mhz, GF2 MX400). That was about two years ago, so passed that onto my sissy. Anyhow, I bought him a X800Pro for father's day (he's crazy gamer: FarCry, Q3/Q4, Painkiller, etc), and I already forgot what I bought him on his birthday..

Christmas is coming up, so I gave him my Chaintech VNF4 so he can dump his P4 2.4A, but probably going to grab a 6800GS or a A64 3200+ (unless I find a opteron).

2005fpw is one of the best LCD's you can get (before getting into ridiculous prices), and is one of the best and only widescreen choices. So  - you'll love the screen - it's amazing for games and movies and of course good for text as well :) .

My gaming is currently devoted to Guild Wars, and my future games will be similiar type games. I cant stand FPS games like Half-Life, for some reason I get really sick.

It came today. No dead pixels. The backlighitng is kinda messed up but I can only tell during an all black screen in a dark room. No big deal. Beautiful monitor!

I love my 2005fpws!

I am looking into the 2405 or the 3007 when it arrives..

30" would be KICK ASS.
