What do you guys think of Pierre Trudeau?

I'd like to hear from people who were around in his time. What were your impressions of him?


To me, he seems like a great guy. No BS, down-to-earth, not affraid of standing up for what he believed and being very smart to (he was a rhodes scholar if I am no mistaken)

Trudeau rules!!!!!!!!!

He showed Canada and the world how to deal with home grown terrorists. Today were too wussy to strip criminals of their rights. That is what our problem is now. Do a crime and loose your civil rights. Fair is fair.

The Prime Minister of Canada a long long time ago. Not too sure of his history in politics, but a well known Canadian icon. People may not always agree with his politics, but he is well respected.

Although he made major lies to the french canadians minority and gained very little support and popularity among them (or should I say us), I must say that his way of thinking and his confidence in Canada made him one of the best Prime Minister we had. He was probably the only PM who was not afraid to take a stand different of the UK and the USA.

He was probably the only PM under which Canada really looked and acted like a leading country.

Also as a western Canadian, I didn't care for him either. However, in retrospect I'd say he kicked ass! Sure, all his ideas/actions weren't great, but he did some things that no one before him or since did. We need more leaders like him.
