Motherboard - Asus A7M266D
Cpu - 2 XP 2000+
Ram - 2 x Crucial 512mb register ram
Vdcard - Geforce 4 (not sure which brand yet)
Soundcard - Hercules Gaming Theater XP
Scsi adapter - Tekram DC-390U3D or Adaptec 39160
Scsi Hd - Seagate Cheetah X15 36LP 36.7gig
Scsi Dvdrom - Pioneer DVD-305S
Scsi cdrom - Plextor 40x (not sure if I will need it)
Ide Cdr - PlexWriter 40/12/40
Ide Dvdr - Pioneer Dvr-A03

I already have the case and floppy from my previous system......
Anyways, is there anything that I should change in this setup? If so, please tell me what is a better option. I'm looking for speed and stability. Please, don't ask me what I will do with the computer. I just want the best of the best computer parts out there right now. I have already ordered the cpu, motherboard, and ram so there's no way of changing that. Oh, btw....most of the scsi parts will be purchase from hypermicro. If you think I can buy at a diff. place with better services and prices then please let me know. Also, where can I get some SILVER round scsi 160 68pin cables at? I've been looking all over the place and I can't seem to find any. They seem to only come in blue. :(
Any comments or recommendation is welcome. Later.

The only thing I can see with your setup is the CPU's. If I am not mistaken XP's are not "supported" to do a duel setup. MP's where. But I have heard of some people not ever having a problem using XP's for a duel system. Otherwise it sounds like a kick arse setup. Mind loaning it to me for a while to "test" it? :D

Good luck...

Why so many optical drives? The CDRW and DVD-RW should cover all of your needs. Other than that, we'd love to have a dual 2000+ on the SETI team. See my sig or go to the Distributed Computing Forum.

THanks for the comments fellas......

The case is from clear-viewtech, version-3. It haven't came in yet so I'm not sure if I will use that case. I will probably have to end up using my old Lite-on fs020 case. It's been over 2wks since I ordered the case from them so I'm not sure if my case is being made right now . It will really suck if it isn't. Btw, does anyone have any experience with them? I emailed them some questions about a wk ago and didn't get any response so that doesn't look too good.

Anyways, does anyone know where I can get some SILVER round scsi 160 68pin cables? I'm going with silver round IDE cables for my IDE drives so I need to match. I want the inside of my case to look really nice and neat so I really need these cables. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Just to clarify, Tbirds and Durons will work in MP configuration.

Well, I really hate to use my cdrw and dvd-rw to install softwares and such. I just want to use it to burn cds and dvds. OTOH, I will have to think about joining a SETI team. It's nothing against Team Anandtech. I just don't like SETI, period.

Hmm.... I think I found my silver scsi cable here. I really don't need 30inches but oh well. If you guys can find shorter ones, please let me know. What do you guys think?

I've never heard anyone say that before. Why? That CDRW drive has the same rating as the CD-ROM you want to use.

Regarding SETI, YGPM.

We really can't tell you what you should change unless you could tell us what the purpose is as many things are application specific.

SCSI Adapter: I'd go with Adaptec, just because..

WHY SO MANY optical drives? You don't need a writer and reader for each type of disc.

I'd keep it to IDE CD-R, DVD-R(what are you using it for anyway?, because DVR-A03 is fine for usual uses, but DVR-S201 Ext SCSI is better if you are planning on sending out your disc for replication)
Since DVD-R drive is expensive(DVR-S201 is four grand), you might add a DVD-ROM drive

Graphic board:

Elsa GloriaIII or 3dLabs GVX420

GF4 is far from the best. It sucks at CAD and DDC. GF anything is merely an application specific video card(game)

Is that based on 760 MP or 760 MPX? If its the MPX I would recommend the Tyan S2460. It is an 760MP board and with the memory tweaks out there it by far outperforming the 760MPX, that and the USB issue w/ the 760MPX.

But don't go with a tyan board if you want to overclock, but really, isn't 1.67ghz x 2 enough. But if you want stability then Tyan is your choice.

Once again just my $0.02
