What do you guys think of Bobby Jindal?

Okay, I realize that he doesn't really stand a chance in the Presidential election. However, I'm curious as to what the general American's perception of him is.

About a month ago, he annoyed a lot of Indians by stating that India was desperate for USA's leadership.

His other comment, saying that he came to the US to become American, not Indian-American, drew equal amounts of jeers and anger. Here's an opinion piece that argues why he's wrong.

So my question to you guys, how exactly is Bobby Jindal viewed as by most Americans. Did anyone actually take him seriously when he declared he was gonna run for President?

I think he could be a great leader if he chooses so. Right now he has chosen to pander and do nothing out of fear.

He had the opportunity to be a great leader after Katrina. He squandered any chance he had, potential of greatness not found. At best he's a typical political hack, albeit one with an atypical background for the Southern GOP.

My impression of him has been bad ever since he gave the official republican response to one of Obama's SOU addresses. He came across as weak and feckless, even as a wuss. This is more of a personality thing than anything to do with substance, but I guaranty he lacks the charisma to get anywhere in the primaries.

He strikes me as a prototypical Southern Republican politician with slightly darker skin than most of them. He's big into God and traditional values and his policies are largely bad for people who aren't rich, white, Christian conservatives. Anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-government, anti-Obamacare, slashing education budgets while trying to get intelligent design taught in schools and defunding hospitals leading to their closure. He's a jackass.

yup, this about covers everything for me as well.

Jindal is one of those really creepy republicans. The ones who look and sound like liars. Ted Cruz is another one. Mitt Romney is another one. Paul Ryan is another one.

Here in Louisiana we can't wait to get rid of him. But since he isn't ever in the state and when he is the state government has to try to function in spite of him, I guess we try not to think to much about him..?

Bobby "stop being the party of stupid" Jindal has no chance in hell, is my impression of him.

My first impression of him was that he somehow looked sickly.

My second look at him was that he really looked sickly.

My third look at him made me realize that his mind is really sickly too.

Poor fella. It looks like he's hit the highest level of incompetence that he can achieve. I hope Louisiana has term limits for that office he's currently infecting.

Yeah, all true, though the reason I emphasize his personality over his policy positions is that this description applies to essentially every candidate in the GOP field. It's why I likely won't vote for any of them in the general election. What separates them most in my mind is personality. It's Jindal's personality that I think will prevent him from even getting to the general election.

I dare anyone to make it through this entire video without distraction through self-mutilation.

get ready for Diaper David Vitter. He's going to be your new governor.

He seems like your typical GOP stooge, grappling with a christian persecution complex and not comfortable with women having control over their own bodies. He and Louisiana deserve each other as far as I'm concerned. The 'trying to be funny' populist act delivered with anti-populist messages would be comical if he weren't a Rhodes Scholar.

I do feel sorry for him though, he doesn't appear to be comfortable in his own skin. He thinks he can tan like a white person - maybe he's spent too much time staring at that creepy painting of him at the capitol building? People in India consider him to be ashamed of his heritage and despise him. I guess changing your name from Piyush to Bobby didn't help.

Few people know who he is. Not at all in contention.

Is being wrong some kind of hobby for you?

The guy is the laughing stock of INDIA, and gets a fair share of laughs in Europe and here in the States. Would you like to guess the population of India?

Saw this and had a chuckle:

Bobby Jindal is so white, he's looking for a minority running mate "to add diversity to the ticket."

Bobby Jindal went to Brown University, but it made him EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE. #bobbyjindalissowhite

Yeah, probably just a couple of jokers behind this #bobbyjindalissowhite, nothing to see here.

Whereas I believe Ted Cruz seriously believes all the fire and brimstone shit he preaches, Jindals approach at it seems entirely disingenuous and forced. It's like he's trying really hard to be a crazy ass hole when it's not in his nature.

That's the only time I've ever heard him speak, and I assumed it was the end of his political career.

He thinks exorcisms are real. That is all anyone ever needs to know about Jindal.

Whenever I hear the word "exorcism," I think of when The Exorcist came out, which was then followed by baptists and catholics suddenly experiencing thousands of possessions!

I've seen people flail around on the floor of a Denny's blubbering satanic mumbo jumbo after getting out of a evening bible study more than once. Funny shit.

If you're looking for any sort of 'real' answer to your question you should ignore all responses by Dems/proggies/liberals. They hate anyone who isn't one of their own and ascribe all sorts of negative attributes even if there's no basis for doing so.

For others, most of us don't live in LA and therefore aren't terribly familiar with Jindal. Moreover, the Republican field is so crowded right now many of the candidates, Jindal included, get overlooked. The rest of country isn't going to learn much about Jindal (or some others) unless and until the field is substantially narrowed.

Right now there seems to be about only two ways to get any attention as a Repub candidate:

1. Be named Trump, or

2. Attack the candidate named Trump

Neither of the above two really tell us anything about the candidates (unless you're named Trump).

"Liberals hate anyone who isn't liberal, so you can completely ignore their opinion," says the conservative without any trace of irony... Because the best way to gauge the overall impressions of a specific politician throughout the entirety of America is to immediately dismiss half of the population from even participating in the poll. We wouldn't want their negative opinions about a person skewing the poll results, now would we? We're still trying to work out how our new polling system is reporting 100% satisfaction with every single politician in the country, but we're confident in our results!
