I would like to write a check for 100,000 please.

And also it would be good if you also write how to split up a number according to its place.
Like 1908 = 1*1000+9*100+0*10+8*1, that would help as a manual to using your cheat sheet.

Also I have presumed that this caters to kindergartners.

I figure if they are writing checks for 100,000 then they probably don't need help.

Older people who speak English as a second language.

srs. if youre going to teach them something, teach them how to swipe a card and use billpay, and save everyone some time in the damn store.

Also, you might want to add a reminder of American date convention.
Sept 20, 2009 not 20 Sept 2009. A list of month names might be handy for this.

European date order is alright, so long as they spell out or abbreviate the month name. It's if they use European date order with all numerals that they will have problems.

ugg...

I used to work for a company based in Europe but with an office in the US and we had huge problems with it. Everyone in the European office used the Euro format, but stuff coming out of the US office depended on who did the typing and once it was in the database it was anyone's guess what format it was in.

4,211 forty-two hundred eleven

I find writing like that saves space on the check, though it might be harder for some to grasp.
