obviously it didn't help them win the election, how about in the next 4 years to come? Will congress become uselessly gridlocked again? Is it sound strategy?

No they need to compromise to move the country forward. They are acting like grade schoolers in a sandbox.

The Republicans do not care about moving the country forward. At all. Hell, "conservative" means holding things back, resisting change, etc.

Hopefully some GOP members come to realize that putting party above country is not a good strategy. Not too hopeful though.

Well their goal was to get rid of Obama by any means necessary, so at least their bad behavior wasn't rewarded. Maybe it'll be better this term, but I'm not holding my breath.

Unfortunately focusing on getting Obama reelected took too many voters' attention off the vitally necessary task of cleaning the obstructionists out of the House of Representatives. Hopefully by 2014 the general population will be fed up with their 12% approval rating Congress.

On the contrary their obstructionism has totally revitalized a mortibound party. Thier self interest lies with future obstructionism.

12% approval rating for Congress as a whole. All 532 :)

Close to 95% approval rating for the local Representative and Senators.

They need to play scorched earth.

Our problems can be solved at the state level, with diverse solutions that don't enact tyranny across 50 states and 315 million people. When you get choices you get freedom to make a choice. You get the liberty to be represented by men of your own character. You regain the right of self determination instead of being dictated to by an enemy.

Your restore that by gridlocking the federal government and supporting state's rights. By supporting diversity.

Don't forget Obama cannot be reelected so he can act crazy like call the house & senate in session for emergency votes or simple get on TV every night for 15 minutes talking about who won't vote

One thing the Republitards who have brains(a fast diminishing amount) have to worry about is this:

They have to do something to avoid the fiscal cliff and there is no chance they won't have to compromise on some things.

Then 2014 comes around and what if the economy is doing pretty well? The Tea Party will have been screaming for two years about a betrayal. They would be going to the polls madly to get rid of any of the compromising Republitards.

You could see a massive Democratic sweep in 2014

There is no chance economy will be doing well. We are circling the drain straddled by debt and an ever shrinking middle class written off 30 years ago who can't afford shit. Only thing saving us is 3 QE's and govt spending is half borrowed money which can't last forever.

A fiscal cliff will screw the economy for a while. Not a couple of months but a few years.

How many government contracts are going to get frozen and/or canceled.

Look at the panic mode Obama went into w/ respect to Lockheed in VA over sending out layoff notices before the election.

No new expensive items will come off the lines - there goes the skilled worker middle class on unemployment (1/4 pay)

Some R&D work gets shut down (1/8 pay).

Even contracts like building cleaning and maintenance will get adjusted to cut costs; delay from weekly to every other week. People have the responsibility to take out their own trash.

Money flowing from the National Highway Transportation Authority and FAA to upgrades & new technology will be curtailed.

Safety inspections by the Coast Guard will be reduced due to ability to maintain the fleet and fuel.

It is not like everything will get sliced by 10% (or whatever the figure is).
Certain this can not get sliced; as a result others take a higher brunt.

QE 3 Did not save anyone. It only weakened our dollar and opened the floodgates for inflation. It just hasnt got here yet. I think the states have just about spent all the Extra money they had on road construcion projects. So know we might have to start using real money which no one has.

Whatever u do you're not doing fine compared to your colleagues in the 1970s. For example my dad made 23K as an entry level accountant in 1972. Thats about 230K in today money. But entry level accountants make about 30-40K today. Never-mind the fact your experience belies statistics.

None of that is going to happen. Even if Jan1 rolls around without a compromise Obama can just keep spending money at the same levels until a deal is reached. The President has complete authority in this area.

There is NO way the Republitards will stonewall and not compromise. The ensuing meltdown you have pointed out would doom them. Full control of Congress in 2014 for the Dems. It might even spell the end of the Republican party.

Only because congress is gerrymander'd to hell.

There needs to be redistricting reform.

Didn't Republicans lose seats in the House?

No they actually gained a few. A couple of their more severe wackadoodles got their walking papers, but the rank and file teabaggers who didn't get caught out saying something truely stupid in public were reelected.

The GOP lost seats in the Senate where gerrymandering is a nonissue.
