It depends on the flight.

When I had a direct flight from Los Angeles to London, I took a Sega Nomad (portable genesis) and Street Fighter II: CE, and about 16 AA batteries cause it ate through them faster than Louie Anderson at a donut eating contest.

If it's a quick flight like Phoenix to Burbank, where by the time you get your drink, the flight is half-way toward it's destination, I'll just take a nap or listen to some tunes on the iPod.

ive only had 3 flights, and my kids were with me on all 3. so mostly, i was quite busy. i *did* read a bit, but the flights were shortish, at 2 and a half hours, and i probably got under an hours worth of reading in due to having the kids with me.

short flights: read the in flight magazine or pick up a magazine in the airport
longer flights: read or watch movies.

short flights, while waiting in the airport: knit. i'll only knit on the plane if there's no one sitting next to me.

I can't sleep at all on an airplane. I usually end up listening to music, watching the in flight movie or reading a book.

Drink and sleep, drink and listen to music, drink and watch a movie or drink and read. Either way I drink. Which in the past has proven to be a very bad thing while flying for me.

Depending on my mood and the time of year that I'm flying: listening to music, looking out the window, sleeping, reading for fun, or reading for class.

For those long flights, do any of you hang out at the back of the plane near the bathrooms? I always thought it was kinda weird that people did that, but i guess it allows to stretch and stand. You can also meet other cool airplane bathroom loiters i guess.
