Cute, except that there is no proof that the universe is infinite, and most evidence points towards the contrary 😛
 
what evidence would that be??? Being a Physics major all i hear is that it is infinite and contionusly expanding. ive actually done a proof to comfirm that.
 
All evidence points to a finite universe, but even if there were an infinite number of planets the following statement is a logical fallacy:

If there were an infinite number of planets, any percentage of them would still be an infinite number of planets. 1% of infinite is still infinite.
 
I don't see how the fact that the universe is constantly expanding has anything to do with being infinite... At any one point, it is fixed, right?

Plus, as it expands, maybe new inhabited planets appear at the same rate that the universe is expanding, so if you take the limit and apply L'Hopital, you might get a constant...
 
AFAIK the universe insent expanding in the way that mor eplanets are added. it that every galaxy is expanding away from every other galaxy out there at in all directions. kind of like if you draw some dots on a baloon and then blow it up the all move away feom each other one. this is happeneing everywhere and has been sence the big bang. you can actually calculate the rate at which we are expanding away from each other. its called the hubble constant
 
That's the current theory, and it's probably not completely true... What if all planets are actually shrkinging very fast (their "center" staying in the same orbit, though), and it looks like the distance between them is actually increasing...

There is a problem about 1/2 way through here, the area that I have bolded out. The population cannot be said to be zero. I can be said that the % of populated planets is asymptotic to zero, however it is not zero. Asymptotic meaning that when the # of planets increases, the closer and closer the populated percentage of planets moves towards zero, while always being above zero. Never at zero, never below zero, always squarely above. And so everything past where the bold BEGINS is completely false and irrelevant.
 
Question: If the universe is finite, then what is outside of the universe? Nothingness = more stuff = infinite universe.

I don't see how the universe could be finite.
