what do you folks in the corporate environment use if any, to remotely install apps?

do you use the microsoft sms stuff? or something 3rd party... what is popular these days?

we use some proprietary stuff. you need each pc to contain a 'client' program of it in order for the server containing the sets of applications which we remotely install, to talk to the workstation and initiate the remote install.

is zenworks for Novell based networks.

Zenworks is a novell application..

for other systems... use Tivoli
I realize that r e a d i n g is a pain in the ass, but;

Zenworks on Microsoft

in every single one of those requirements is a novell component... either Novell Server, or NDS Corporate Edition or Novell eDirectory, hence calling it a Novell Application. It is not specifically for Novell Networks, but requires Novell Components. Some people don't want to run Novell components (cant understand why... i'm a novell guru)... so i gave Tivoli as an alternative.

It's misleading to label Zenworks as a Novell only application - and that's what your mention of Zen being a Novell App regarding abc's question about Zen being for Novell based networks does. Implementing an instance of eDirectory to enable Zenworks does not change the nature or administration of a Microsoft Network (you being a "novell guru" know that).

If ANY extra Novell Directory component in a Microsoft environment is still too much for people to bear; Zen on LDAP & AD

Well, your wish has been granted and your dreams are about to come true. ZENworks for Desktops Version 4 will run on a Windows network with no NetWare server needed. It?s true that you?ll need to run Novell?s eDirectory for Windows 2000 - but the next release of ZENworks will even do away with that requirement as it will run on top of any Lightweight Directory Access Protocol-compliant directory service, including Windows? Active Directory. And surprisingly, I was reminded of this by someone deep inside Microsoft.
