What do you eat at work?

Just wondering what healthy/semi-healthy foods you all pack for work or school. Especially interested in foods that you can eat at your desk and don't need to be heated up. I've long since been tired of cold sandwiches, so I've been bringing stuffed pitas, wraps, etc... Breakfast is usually a Balance bar of some kind, followed later in the morning with a piece of fruit. Afternoon snack is usually some dry roasted almonds, maybe some cheese, or peanut butter and crackers.

Just curious what everyone else does!

I go out to eat every day. Random choices from McDonalds, Rockys, Panera, Boston Market, Fazolis, TGIFridays, etc.

Sometimes we get comp tickets for lunch in our cafeteria (otherwise you have ot pay for it) and then I get some special they have going on or grab a burger or something. But of course I have about the worst eating habits of anyone I know.

Smart Choice frozen dinners. Good stuff, and good for you 😉

I ate like that from age 25-30, and spent ages 30-33 taking off the 50 lbs. I gained :disgust:

That just gets so expensive. I used to do it all the time until I realized just how much money I'd save by bringing a sandwich and some tuna to work.

I eat a lot of tuna.

Just mayo or do you get creative? I occasionally use mustard just to make it a little more "fat friendly" but even that gets old after a while. 🙂

Man I got to a point where mayo/mustard just wasn't cutting it any more so I thought I'd try some things. There's some obvious things you can do like lemon juice, but the most surprising find for me was salsa. We had breakfast burritos from sonic one morning and some leftover salsa packets. I thought what the hell and man it ended up being the best of all the tuna friendly condiments.

Tell me about! I try and quit eating out primarily for the cost factor. Pretty much any restaurant you go to is an easy $7-$8 before tip. Even fast food is outrageous. It adds up quick.

The nearest grocery store deli is your friend. 🙂

Yeah, I hit the deli a lot. My fav. that I make is probably roast beef and swiss or provolone with some thinly sliced genoa salami. Load that up on some good wheat berry bread with some banana peppers and spicy mustard....ok, now I'm hungry. 🙂

Wraps, salads, rolls, various fillings. I just go down the store and pick up some ingredients and make something. Other than that, I go out for a pub lunch now and again.

Atlanta Bread Co. is on my way to work so that's easier to stop at, but I love Panera's asiago cheese bagel. That is good stuff, especially with just a light layer of cream cheese.

I eat Tuna w/fat free mayo. When I make myself the sandwhichs, I give 1/2 the can to my cat so I save calories that way 😉

Wow, I have an Atlanta Bread on the way to work and I live in Tennessee too! 😛

Not Nashville by any chance?

Heh, not anymore. Unfortunately I'm back in Knoxville for awhile. I really miss Nashville and I guess that's why I'm back out there at least once a month.

We have a free lunch bar which includes:
6-8 different mixed salads
4-6 things to put on your sanwich
daily hot meal
home baked bread
3-4 kinds of cheese
Lots of fresh fruit

All in top quality, so i can't complain 🙂

I get those Banquet thingies that heat up in the microwave and eat that with a piece of fruit. Theres a ton of variety, even for my vegetarian beliefs so I rarely get tired of it.

I work in downtown Pasadena, there's plenty of food places around here, especially sammiches places 😛. Usually, I just get a sandwich and eat at my desk while playing game.

wtf do you work?

BBQ a chicken breast the night before and have it cold...that's always good! You can either have it like it is or put it on a salad and that's desk friendly. Boiled eggs go well on salads too....healthy and yummy! Skoorbie eats a lot of cottage cheese...the low fat kind is great, full of protein to keep you filled. Add fruit and something whole wheat and you are all set...

I usually hit stop and shop grab a sandwich, or some sort of fast food.... but starting next week, I'm bringing... I'm sick of going broke every week...
