do you stick to one thing for the most part or do you change up and do different things on a weekly basis???

I have been doing the treadmill regularly and I think it is starting to take a toll on my knee so I have switched to an elliptical...My heart rate doesn't get as high (probably need to push my self a little harder though)...

I might trying swimming some laps pretty soon though...

I run outside, typically between 10K and 20K 3 times per week right now. When I'm not in training I run between 5 and 10K 3 times per week. I  running!

I kickbox against a heavy bag and jog. I also find that occasional "conditioning from heaven," that is, fast switching between body-weight exercises (push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, lunges...) and jogging does a great job. I'm worried about killing my knees at some point, though.

I mix it up to stay interested, I'm easily distracted by shiny objects. MTB, run, hit the heavy bag, mirror fight, surf every wave I can get and take them all the way to the beach if possible, then paddle out again like I was trying to get priority in a heat, or play speed golf i.e. run from Tee to Tee and shot to shot, disc golfing. Trying to shoot a low score like that is challenging as a mofo. Lately, shooting hoops a lot.

Right now I'm just doing SS cardio on the treadmill. If it was nicer outside, I'd run outside.

I change it up a bit, but since I bicycle commute to work, that is my main cardio 5days/week.

I also mix up the following for some variety:
tennis, jump rope, running, swimming. I've had some knee issues so it's mainly swimming and cycling right now (I wish I had a clay court).

I've been going with the stairmaster recently. The one that's like an escalator going down that you climb up. I'm working on building up my leg press strength, and this is a similar movement.

CrossFit workouts, which include a heavy cardio aspect along with resistance. High intensity, but never boring.

Elliptical when I'm at the gym. At work a few games of ping pong will usually do it.

i constantly change it up. keeps my body off balance, prevents boredom, and helps reduce injuries from repetitive motions. i do cardio on alternate days from lifting, and during a typical week am likely to do some kick boxing on a heavy bag, some jogging, some ellipticals, and some biking.

When I had a gym in my garage I use to have a heavy bag and a speed bag that would give me an excellent cardio workout. Now days that I go to the gym I just use the elliptical, mainly because it's easy on my knees which are pretty beat up from years of playing Basketball.

I do sports for cardio which doesn't seem to be on the list. I play high level singles tennis for hours and hockey as well. For tennis I usually hit most of those long sessions so its constant movement and footwork. Hockey is a lot of burst but still pretty much always elevated heart rates as you are always moving and skating.

While more feasible in an urban environment lacking space, indoor repetitive machines make me so bored It feels painful after a short time. My mind is not disciplined enough to grind away on a stationary bike going "nowhere" for an hour. I tried spin, didn't like it either. Maybe if I did one of those video game ones I could do it.

I am waiting to get a really enhanced ski machine video game. I have seen some but they just weren't good enough. They should design a system that goes from side to side (they already have) but makes you deal with angles and bumps with a force feedback going to a video game system. I'd sign up to the first gym that gets that. Strap a snowboard on it too.

Run, Bike, or Swim.
Cannot stand the ellipticals and threadmills and stationary bikes.

I think it is a good idea to find something fun to get most of your cardio. I play basketball as often as possible - 2.5 hours last night of mostly full court ball was a lot better than the treadmill or cardio kickboxing alternatives. After about a winter of regularly playing basketball 2-3 times a week, I am now getting above the rim again - higher than I was able to throughout my twenties (I'm 30), which is the kind of result that motivates me to keep it up.

I run, swim and play hockey. I run outside in all weather, ran all but 2 days outside during the winter. I took a week off from running and made up for it with increased swimming. For the warmer weather I plan on swimming at lunch time and running just before dinner, just like last fall. I play hockey roughly every 10 days. There have been days where I swam at lunch, ran just before dinner and then played hockey at night. Boy I was beat the next day, but the net gain is dramatic in the long view. I enjoy all three and I am borderline compulsive with exercise.

I have been doing treadmill for more than 10 years now; I hit the gym 3 times a week and 70% of my time spent in the gym goes into treadmill.
