What do you do with your retail HSF?

I just plied it off my heatsink and am going to mount it in the front of my case using some ties.

So wouldn't the most logical thing be to store it somewhere safe? Or has eveyone here already voided the warrenty on the processors by lapping it?

AMD requires the same... but I popped the lid off my chip so who cares about warranty :D

yep.

you should save it in case you ever need to RMA your cpu (most likely never will). also when you sell your cpu you'll have a stock hsf to go with the retail package.

i did have an x2 3800+ die on me once, and the retail hsf came in very handy in the process of RMA.
